I use air bags on my trucks to retain height wile towing, any products that work for 7k trailer axles? Lippert or dexter.

Since it's a tandem axle, you would have to have four of them if they exist. I am wondering if perhaps you may be overloading your trailer a bit.

You can not just add a helper to a trailer. You must not exceed the weight limit of the axle. There is not a large margin for trailer axles.

I’m in the just buy a heavier duty trailer camp. Even if you did add airbags it didn’t change the axel, frame or tire rating.

Background. I may get a peice of equipment that will be 1600lb over gvwr. A call to manufacturer said the frame is quite capable and its the axles that are the weak spot. A call to Lippert and they said its only 1600lb…but the weak spot is the springs/tires. I can upgrade to the 8k springs and probably will, was just curious about helper springs like trucks have. it could be months to get an other trailer and I do plan on it, but I’d like to keep this one. Will probably upgrade tires to 14 ply and replace Lippert springs.

I'm not advocating overloading your trailer, but look up SumoSprings and the ones they offer for trailers.

I have a 14k and a 20k trailer and the 20k is truthfully probably a derated 25k. I run my mini x all the way to the front of the 20k and use it to load implements on the truck bed. After the first time attempting that on the 14k it was apparent the 14k was hating life and I needed a new plan. There’s a big difference in the build of the 2 trailers. I assume this relates to putting a 12k excavator on the 14 trailer. I wouldn’t hesitate to do that once or even once a month but for daily use the 14k trailer isn’t going to take it well.

There is a GRVW rating on your trailer if it is factory built. No matter what axles or springs you put under the trailer you by law can not exceed the rating. The manufacturer will not issue a new plate for that trailer and increase the trailer's load capacity. They have no way to know if the trailer has been altered or damaged.

That means if you get into an accident and the trailer weighs more then it is rated for, three bad things may happen. Your insurance claim will be denied and a citation for an overloaded trailer may be issued. And if there is a death or injury you may go to jail.

Load your trailer safely.

Trailer is a 14900. With the 10200 kx040 plus the thumb my trailer axles are at 13330. So realistically that leaves me 1570. That’s also with an extra 60” bucket which I could leave off. I’ll be right at or a little above til I get another trailer.
Do you have a cdl?
