Netflix Raising prices during Covid

One factor in using Netflix is that there are no Ads. Does Discovery have ads?
You can get it with or without, mine is without as I despise ads with a passion. I think it's $2 cheaper if you want ads, this is what I pay a month:

I like the programming, Deadliest Catch, Gold Rush, Bering Sea gold, Cold Blooded Alaska and similar shows, haven't found the end of what I like yet LOL. There is some what I call 'Trash programs' but it's bound to have some crap shows....or at least what I call crap :)...........Mike

Ads don't bother me that much. Even on the "free" stream sites the breaks are rather short. They can be repetitive though (same ads run each break).
The most annoying ads tend to be car dealers, and car ads seem to be few and far between on stream sites.

Isn't that the truth. There was one free service I was watching a movie on, same ads were every 10-15 minutes or so thruout the movie other than the last 20 minutes or so. Then, the same minute long pair of ads would play 3 times every 6 minutes (yes I timed it) .....never did see the end of the movie LOL........Mike

Just got a notice about the NetFlix price increase. Gonna have to talk to the wifey about it....

We do watch a few shows on NetFiix. Gonna have to go and see how much we really watch and is it worth the money...

We do spend far more time on YouTube watching content. If I could spend 12 hours a day watching YouTube videos I could never watch everything I wanted to watch... Maybe buying add free YouTube is a better use of money....

Even paying for NetFlix and Brit Box it still is cheaper, and a far better value than cable/DirectTV. That was huge waste of money for no content.

Later,
Dan

Mostly All I watch is (free) YouTube. I just got Starlink Internet so I'll be canceling DirecTV in the coming days. The only question is what I'm going to do for college football later this year. I plan on putting in an antenna to get whatever is offered on local stations.

Which is the plan. An extra buck a month (with promises of "more" which usually translates into more stuff you're not interested in) and customers will grumble but relatively few will cancel.
I've never subscribed to them, but I don't imagine any of the streaming services is gonna make it easy to cancel. SiriusXM has to be the king of that.
It’s super easy to cancel Netflix, Hulu, HBOMax. It takes about 5 seconds on-line. I start and stop them all the time.

Just got a notice that Netflix is "Updating" their price by another $1.00 to give us "more" .
I have not seen a lot of adds to Netflix and am trying to convince my wife to drop them.

Anyone else getting fed up with them raising prices and giving less high rated movies (they seem to have dropped a lot of content since March).

Anyone know how to contact them to complain ?
Complain? It’s either worth the price to you or it isn’t. We used to pay $3 or $4 to rent DVDs. It doesn’t take much watching to get your money’s worth from a streaming service. But hey, if you think it isn’t a value for you then by all means cancel. There’s a bunch of stuff I’m not buying anymore in the grocery store, like beef. I can’t justify paying $12 a pound when pork is $3 and chicken is $2.

Just a heads up, my wife signed up for AppleTV to watch Servant (series). It's only $5/month and there's some watchable stuff on there.

I dumped Netflix months ago. I wasn't finding much this 70 y.o. could enjoy. It all seemed to be aimed at the 18 to 40 crowd. As for most of the Netflix produced series, I've pretty much reached my limit of how many F-bombs I will listen to before I turn it off. It's never appropriate, sometimes contextually understandable, but too often it's just gratuitous.

I rarely watch any tv any more. My son gets Netflix at times to watch a show, than cancels.
