Propane F250

I like propane powered gas engines.
One reason many of the dual fuel units start on gasoline then switch is to get the coolant warm enough to run the vaporizers for the propane.
All the propane engines I'm used to used a liquid draw from the tank to the vaporizer with engine coolant as the heat source for the vaporizer.
Most automotive applications do not have enough vapor available until the coolant is warmed up for the vaporizer to function well.
Many of the older propane powered tractors were difficult to get started in cold weather and had a long warmup period before they could be worked hard.

In European banger racing, fuel injection isnt allowed. These guys try all kinds of carburettors on their engines, with home made manifolds. My neighbour stopped banger racing (hes in his mid 30s and getting too old for 50mph crashes every other weekend) but prepares engines for friends: From 1.8 blacktop Fords to 3.8 liter Jaguar inline sixes. He allways welds a coolant pipe under the manifold where the carburettor sits, because otherwise the mixture exiting the carburettor freezes the manifold because fuel evaporation withdraws so much heat from the environment. Needless to say his ported heads and manifold put the horsepower at the wheels what the OEM fuel injected engine had at the crank.

I don't remember what brand system was on my 77, but I live where winter temps go down to minus 40 and I've never had it where that truck never started. Except once.....but it was the mixer finally wore out. Replaced it and it was all good again.
