That sounds about ballpark right. It really ought to be $300, but they've figured out how to make it four times as profitable. It's interesting that a few years ago - back when tractors were made more user friendly - almost all FELs used a simple universal type of type of directional control valve assembly. Most of those control valves assemblies had a a "PB" or Power Beyond" port which could be hooked up to provide flow to a second set of contol valves. That's all it took for addtional functions. As many as wanted cost no more than some hoses and valves.

I'm sure that the process today is basically the same. Hydraulic technology hasn't changed. And yet it has been made more difficult because the valve bodies aren't universal anymore. The hookup details are different and brand specific. I was looking at my Kubota FEL control valve and realized I don't have not the slightest idea where to start to put on more controls.

My 3rd function gets flow from PB port on the loader valve.
On that 3110 I owned. I used PB off the loader and fed a prince valve for the grapple.
I just decided to go with the elect. over hyd 3rd function on the kubota

I bought Kubota 3rd function kits for both B26 and M59. $800-900ea. Both large boxes of pre-bent steel lines, hoses, valves, fittings, wiring, control handles and valve shrouds. M59 valves and lines much bigger. Was going to install myself but when talking with the dealer about full service parts for the M59 their winter special shop rate was much cheaper than I could do myself. Needed B26 rear tire ballast too. They installed 3rd function $100ea. Nice clean routing and flawless function for years. Vote Kubota kit for 3rd function.

The fact that you can't figure out the PB port doesn't necessarily mean the valve body is at fault. ;)

Small tractor mounted backhoes are ridiculous expensive and considerably more unsafe compared to larger backhoes. Really had to watch my feet not to get pinched with the outriggers. Most don’t have a rotating seat or good means to climb up and down with muddy shoes. If you can’t reach the swing controls from the driver’s seat on my high side farm you will roll over. My Dad could use my Ford 4500 digging stumps or cleaning ponds. He Bought a L3830 with frame mount backhoe. Used it
My M59 didn’t come with a backhoe, landscape model. Looked for two years before finding one 500 miles away. 12’ with thumb, BT1200 little use for $5,000. Same used equipment seller had a couple of used Woods and Kubota- 8’ backhoes for $8,000 for ag models. Of course the smaller ones could possibly fit more different tractors.

FWIW, the dealer installed a W&R Long 3rd function valve on my 2018 MX5800. He claims for the same price, it's a slightly better product than the Kubota Land Pride.

He installed the W&R Long valve on my 2020 L6060 for the same reason.

I'm sure others will disagree here and I haven't had any experience with the Land Pride valve. All I can say is, I went with the dealers suggestion and haven't had any problems.
