No Military Leader shells an innocent civilian target.

Yes they do. All the time. Especially the Russians. It's common practice with them, practically part of their playbook.

We're not angels when it comes to that.

Dresden comes to mind. Tokyo. Hiroshima. Nagasaki. So I don't know where you come up with this stuff

Yeah, really
Russian Military leaders shelling the crap out of innocent civilians right now. The Russians killed thousands of citizens in Mariupol
American military has bombed civilian targets as have many others in the past.

I'm surprised you missed the point.

A civilian building with a sniper or any other form of offensive military equipment being used against an Army is no longer an "innocent civilian target".

A Russian Field Commander didn't just randomly say "Ok guys, shell that building" with no forethought.

As to common practice, visit any Country we have conducted a full scale War in.

Can you prove that? As in prove there wasn't a target among the civilians?

The problem with EV is where is the power going to come from to charge the battery?

The US power grid has very little extra generation or distribution capacity. The amount of energy used in vehicles is huge, if the energy is not from gas or diesel, and now is electric power, generating and distributing that power is huge expense and problem. We will need more power production and will have to increase the grids capacity to distribute that power.

The Wall Street Journal had an article about US power generation and distribution last month, WJS Article, but there was nothing really new to the issue if one has been paying attention.
A report last year by the American Society of Civil Engineers found that 70% of transmission and distribution lines are well into the second half of their expected 50-year lifespans. Utilities across the country are ramping up spending on line maintenance and upgrades. Still, the ASCE report anticipates that by 2029, the U.S. will face a gap of about $200 billion in funding to strengthen the grid and meet renewable energy goals.
The shortfall in investment needed to upgrade the aging grid is projected to grow to a cumulative $208 billion by 2029 and $338 billion by 2039.
The rate payers are going to have to pay, as they should, to rebuild the grid, but putting more power on the grid will require more money rather than upgrading what exists.
Grid operators around the country have recently raised concerns that the intermittence of some electricity sources is making it harder for them to balance supply and demand, and could result in more shortages. When demand threatens to exceed supply, as it has during severe hot and cold spells in Texas and California in recent years, grid operators may call on utilities to initiate rolling blackouts, or brief intentional outages over a region to spread the pain among everyone and prevent the wider grid from a total failure.
Some areas are going to start getting blackouts, either to save the grid or because there is not enough power because we are shutting down coal, oil, and nuclear power stations before there are replacement power generation is place. But even natural gas plants are not clean enough to the Greens. Since the Western world is shutting down coal, oil and nuclear power stations, the only large scale, non intermittent power generation is through natural gas. The West has taken out a diversity of non intermittent power generation to a single source, natural gas, which has driven up prices, and frankly, is a big reason for Putin's War. Putin's gambit was obvious after the 2014 invasion of Ukraine and his building of the Baltic sea gas pipe lines to bypass Ukraine. The German's were okey dokey with it though, but when the German's ex Chancellor went to work for Putin's energy companies right after he left office, is it a surprise? So now we need to supply even more natural gas, without using Russian supplies, which is driving up prices. At least for the short term.

But it gets worse...
The New York Independent System Operator, or NYISO, which oversees the state’s power grid, last month warned of possible supply shortages in the coming years as several gas-fired power plants close or operate less frequently in light of stricter state air quality rules. New York, which has set a goal to eliminate emissions from its electricity supplies by 2040 and no longer has any coal-fired power plants, also recently shut down a nuclear plant some 30 miles north of Manhattan after critics for years called it a safety hazard.
But it gets worse...
NYISO said its reserve margins—how much electricity it has available beyond expected demand—are shrinking, increasing the risk of outages. A 98-degree, sustained heat wave could result in shortfalls within New York City as soon as next year, a circumstance that would likely force NYISO to call for rolling blackouts for the first time ever.

“We already foresee razor-thin margins,” said Zach Smith, NYISO’s vice president of system and resource planning. “The risk is compounded when we take into consideration unforeseen events.”
It is not just New York.
New York is adding substantial amounts of new wind and solar generation, as well as battery storage, and NYISO has said that it is critical that the projects remain on track to improve the stability of the system in the coming years. Already, wind and solar developers across the country are facing headwinds related to supply-chain issues, inflation and the amount of time it often takes to get approval to connect to the grid.

The North American Electric Reliability Corp., a nonprofit overseen by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that develops standards for utilities and power producers, warned in a report last month that the Midwest and West also face risks of supply shortages in the coming years as more conventional power plants retire.
Within the footprint of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, or MISO, which oversees a large regional grid spanning from Louisiana to Manitoba, Canada, coal- and gas-fired power plants supplying more than 13 gigawatts of power are expected to close by 2024 as a result of economic pressures, as well as efforts by some utilities to shift more quickly to renewables to address climate change. Meanwhile, only 8 gigawatts of replacement supplies are under development in the area. Unless more is done to close the gap, MISO could see a capacity shortfall, NERC said. MISO said it is aware of this potential discrepancy but declined to comment on the reasons for it.
How do you replace 13 gigawatts of power generation with 8 gigawatts and expect everything to be ok? Is the MISO having decreased power demand? Will power demand decrease by 2024? The insanity of this is astounding.

Europe has been following the Green Pied Piper to the energy cliff for more years than the US, but we are following them.

This is going to be painful, but as people start to freeze or overheat depending on the season, as their food costs grow astronomically, as they throw away rotten food because the power went out, again, and when their transportation costs sky rocket, the plans made to go Green will change. But will it be too late? One does not just build a power station over night.

It is going to get worse due to Putin's War. Energy prices in Europe are increasing rapidly. They were doing so late last year to a shortage of wind, thus a shortage of wind power generation, which drove up demand and prices for natural gas. Putin's War has made it worse. I think it was the Netherlands that had a 39% increase in power costs and that is just the beginning. The shortage of grain from Russia and Ukraine, along with the increased cost of fertilizer, is going to raise the price of food all over the world. This is going to cause unrest if Putin's War is not ended soon. Turkey has been suffering horrible economic hardship before Putin's War, and it is going to get much, much worse. Turks were already lining up for free or subsidized bread before Putin's War, it is much worse now and only going to get more worse. Turkey will not be alone.

Some EU countries are cutting taxes on fuel to lower the impact. Course that is going into debt since they need that revenue. They are also giving out chump change a few hundred dollars to help people, well some people, with their energy bills. Last year when the wind generation power shortage started, almost 30 power companies in the UK went out of business. Their natural gas expense rose but they could not increase the price of power to the consumer, they had not choice but to go bankrupt. In the UK, there are only two plants that make fertilizer from natural gas. They shutdown at one point due to the increase of natural gas costs but they restarted when the UK government subsidized some of their expenses. Those plants also make CO2 which is require for not only fizzy sugar water and beer but to slaughter livestock. Without CO2 the livestock processing would stop and there would be no meat to sell.

Ireland is talking about FORCING farmer to grow grain crops. They did this during WWII, and if a farmer did not grow what the government THOUGHT they could grow, the government seized the land. 🤬 The gross stupidity of thinking that a livestock producer can just suddenly start growing grain is astounding. Even back in the 40's this was nuts.

The insanity of this is astounding.

The Ukrainian childrens hospital they bombed the other day?
The Russians are bombing civilian targets on a daily basis. They are losing and they are desperate. Bombing civilians is a tactic they have used in other invasions to get capitulation faster.
Its immoral and disguSting.

I thought you said you were ignoring me???

Were you at that hospital? Do you know there weren't Ukraine weapons being used from that building?

If Ukraine wants to save it's cities then move the Soldiers into rural open country and fight it out. Gathering and fighting from the cities is driving this.

This is the face of War. Russia isn't doing anything we haven't done. They aren't doing anything that every invading country on this planet hasn't done.

There's only one goal in a War. Win. The moment you blink you've lost.

One thing, we can look at a map and figure out who the invading country is.
