Lost an hour to DST

/ Lost an hour to DST #41
My weather station does adjust for DST, but for some reason it's off by a couple weeks.

Correction; it changes on the correct weekend (at least in the spring), but it does it Sunday night, not Saturday. Weird.
I wish Idaho would just switch to Pacific Standard, and be done with it. I’ve heard all the arguments about it making the kids go to school in the dark.
N.H. is considering changing to Atlantic time, and remaining on standard time year round. Its adaption would hinge on Maine and Mass. following suit. USDOT would also have to agree to this.

I like it just the way it is.

There are 9 days in June that Civil twilight [daylight] begins at 5:05 AM. in my east facing bedroom window.

If we went back to standard time, it would start becoming daylight at 4:05 AM.

That's just nuts! I'm a retired owl, not a working eagle.

Well the senate, by unanimous consent, just passed keeping DST forever. It has to pass the house still...

Yesterday I drove 45 miles and was 1/2 mile into the woods when the sun finally woke up. Last night my body was so messed up that I didn’t even get up until 6:30 this AM. (Last week’s 5:30).
Now I’m headed out to get some trees tapped before darkness descends.

Dumbest thing since JARTS but I am not confident they can even do this one simple task without attaching a Trillion to it for some 'research' or funding for those without a watch.

If only I had known how to make spud guns back then
And you think Jarts were bad? ;) There never has been a shortage of ways to cause carnage, if your imagination is working. šŸ˜†.

I wonder with the move to massive farming operations many heavily mechanized if it wont pass this time.
The 100 acre family farm is pretty much dead. That seemed to be the party most in need of 5AM sunrises

The sun is still up the same amount of time. Only our time perspective changes.

That's a blast from the past. My wife and I saw a set of them in an antique/flea market place a couple months ago. I was surprised to see a complete set.

A day to go down in history, all 100 senators actually agreed on something!

If you have to do farm chores before you have to go to your off-farm full-time job, that's the perspective from a farmer's point of view. I'm sure they'd like some sunlight in the a.m.

However, I'd guess agriculture has little influence over the subject anymore. It's mostly driven by people either not wanting their kids going to school in the morning darkness, or people wanting more daylight AFTER their full-time job is over, so they can get some things done/recreate in the evenings.

Many large operations milk 3 times a day now, around the clock.

According to this article
There's an age-old myth that Daylight Saving was a practice adopted to give farmers extra time in the sun to work out in the field. But that's not really why dozens of countries follow it.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) is a system to reduce electricity usage by extending daylight hours. For eight months out of the year, the U.S. and dozens of other countries follow DST, and for the remaining four months, revert back to standard time in order to take full advantage of the sunlight.
