Lost an hour to DST

What you think is it real this time, is DST gone for good?
No, it's not gone for good, it's here for good. They're voting to keep DST forever so that you'll not have to change your clocks twice a year, and all the daylight hours will be shifted towards the end of the day, rather than the beginning of the day, permanently.

The two threads on this subject have been merged into this one. Please continue to discussions. Thanks.

I don't like heat, so not having that extra hour in the AM to get things done before going to work really sucks.
Agree, for people that work 2nd shift, taking a morning hour away sucks. If you are waiting for the grass to dry before you can mow means doing the work RIGHT before you leave for work.

Yes. It was fairly common to see a school bus or two parked at a dairy farm around here as well. One of the farmer families that my wife and I went to school with used to have several school busses and routes for the local school district. They weren't dairy farmers, but have a feed mill, farm store, and large nursery, besides the several thousand acres of grains and vegetables.
Same deal where I grew up. About half the busses were owned by the school district and driven by school employees, the others owned and driven by a farm family. These were dairy farmers...soil's too rocky here for anything else. Profitable sideline for them.

Fear, not those who don't like it. As written, we won't stop changing our clocks until spring of '24. Software companies will be given time to rewrite their software for airlines etc. to stop the madness. No doubt the USPS and IRS will struggle with these inconsiderate deadlines.

I think it'll be around 4:30 now where you are in the CST if they stay on DST year round.

Remember spring forward, fall back when setting your clocks to DST?

Well, if they pass it, we'll never set the clocks back. They'll stay sprung forward forever. So sunsets will be an hour later in winter than in past years.

At least I think that's how it will be. 🙃

Just goes to show you dairy farmers were looking for off-farm income 40-50 years ago.

It wasn't just dairy farmers.

I think we've had this conversation before, maybe not, but anyway, my dad and mom both had full-time jobs and did other work on the side for extra income. My wife's parents did the same.

My wife and I had 6 jobs between us when we got married. Didn't stop the extra jobs for about 11 years after that.

I think the general consensus was that if you wanted to get ahead faster, you worked as many jobs as you could fit in while finding a balance with your spouse/family for free time.
