Well for a few bucks, you could start over with modern fuses;

I have a limited tolerance for running down electrical gremlins, but that's just me...

All the best,

Peter

I really like that. And the connects are not exposed to the elements. Not a bad price for an upgrade. Less than $20 shipped to one's door.

Looking further, it has LEDs that would shine when the fuse blew. clever.

I do like the upgrade from the glass tube fuses that are harder to find.

i could prolly design something and print it, but it would prolly be cheaper to order the new fuse panel. People like to think 3d printing is cheap. Its really not if you figure in cost of equipment and time etc..

I only offered 3D printing for the fuse cover as the fuse box is over 40 years old. We can't run down to the nearest autoparts store to pick one up. :)

Going totally new is an option should the old wires reach and the mounting size fits within the footprint of the existing broken fuse box.

I understand,

its just I have gotten requests and people think I am going to waste my time for 3 dollars. sorry.

I have a simpler version that I used to add a 12V socket to my tractor, and hid the waterproof (dust proof) fuse box under my dash. It has/had room for expansion, so when I later wanted to add other features (glow plug indicator and control) to the dash, it was easy.

Having restored a couple of older vehicles, boats, and machines, I tend to try to put in solutions that solve the current problem and leave open future additions. I have been under too many vehicles tracing gremlins to think it is fun any more. FWIW: I always use marine grade (Anchor brand) tinned wire and adhesive lined crimps to keep any corrosion to a minimum. (Did I mention that I am not wild about gremlins?:))

I think numbers matching restorations have their place, but, for me, at least so far, my machines are working machines first, and restored tools second.

All the best,

Peter

What you might do is bend some sheet metal into a small cover but put something inside it so there's no electrical contact. Or make one from polycarbonate.
