What are the 2 metal things on each bottom step for ?
2 metal hook like things on each bottom step .Can they be removed ?

The part that you are referencing is used as a spacer. The purpose of this spacer it to prevent the side rails from slamming into each other.

Na, the younger generation will see a ladder and not know how to open it…. Much less what its used for.

I believe OSHA only allows 104’ for safety reasons
Must be a new height limitation; I have a 10' (120 inch) one. On the other hand, I rarely use it - it's HEAVY.
