Was trying to be apolitical, by bluntly stating current facts and how presidents of either party dont control fuel prices. You labeling my reply as politcal really only shows your partisan bias while reading it, haha.
This belongs on the Front Porch but let me simply state that while administrations do not control prices, they do control policy.
This statement is also apolitical... I am not calling out or espousing views of either party, just stating a fact.

I buy local (USA made - hopefully), as much as possible, and don't really fret the prices. If I need it, I buy it.

I bought some frozen (pricy - of course) fish last week. I didn't notice the packages listed them as "Product of China", until I got 'rm out, to cook. Dang it.

Friend of mine have developed strategy, how to fill car those times.
Just enjoy automatic payment.
Swipe card on reader, put "gun" in tank and let it run. Without looking on counter.
It's OK, if you cry at this moment. Few tears doesn't mean you are weak or broke.
Just wait the click, put gun back, head still down, without looking on figures. Just jump in car and leave ASAP. Dont look back, don't think about that
I use a variation of that technique for my vet bills. I don’t/won’t use autopay, but every time that I go to the vet I hand them a different card. By the end of the month they’re diluted down so it doesn’t seem so bad when I pay it.

When I want fish I go to the freezer and get out a filet from a walleye I caught on the St. Lawrence River last August. While I can't say the fish didn't wander over into the Canadian side of the river sometime during its lifetime, I definitely caught it on the NY side of the border.

I suppose if you divided the cost of the fishing camp by the pounds of fish brought home, it would be pricey. But then, I don't go there for the fish, I go there so I can spend a week not doing farm work.

And therein lies the source of inflation. Too many people buying what they "need" no matter what the price. Even if I think I "need" it, if I don't have the money I don't buy it. I find a way to get along without it. My parents, children of the Great Depression, taught me that valuable lesson.

It costs many folks more to go fishing than it does to buy fish at the store.

Same thing for chicken. When you can buy a fully cooked 3lb chicken at the store, then compare that to the cost of purchasing a chick and raising it to 3lbs of meat... where's the break even point?

You left out Venison... that is probably $150/lb meat there.

Ya think? :sneaky:
Lol. No, actually I heard the "big-limestone" lobby was suppressing rock crushing operations across the country until the microchip shortage ends. Something about the supply chain for coronaviruses, or whatever.

Instead of buying stocks, invest in OSB?

....it would take 3 months for that to ripple through the supply line...
Except when the price of crude goes up the prices of gas/diesel goes up immediately, when the price of crude drops then the cheaper crude has to filter thru the system, always been that way.........
