/ Hi there my 1980 ish Massey Ferguson 245 tractor is making terrible engine noise what is causing this?

I wouldnt crank it again. You may have lost a rod bearing. It may be fixable in the tractor where it is. I've seen beat out bearings and the crank and rod was still fine. Just put new bearings in it. I've done it on the grass in the front yard. The key is dont run it no more. It's worth looking into. Take it down and see. Only turning over of that engine should be with a wrench. If it has a loader, unhook it and drag tractor backwards out of it. Get if to a decent location and go to work.
