I had a problem with algae and added some areators to help the beneficial bacteria eat it. Also the algae lowers the oxygen level and can kill some fish. The water is much cleaner and the fish are more active. I got mine at septic solutions, they have septic air pumps that are quite and don’t use much electricity. I got a kit and used a Jon boat and rope to set the head and sinking hose.

A nearby buddy had a 5 or so acre pond built several years ago. He built a quite large dock before it filled with water and supported it by old creosote utility poles driven or dug in. But he didn’t put enough posts in the center of the 16 x 24 landing (?) area. It was like walking across a trampoline. He had a bear of a time adding in more posts later.

That pond looks great. Trenches are one structure, piles are another. We just finished draining and de-silting a 7 acre pond, rebuilding the dam and creating new structure. Now we are looking to restock fish and get it growing again. It's slow and expensive.....

I'll see what I can do. One problem with capturing a project like this is that photos dont do justice to the scale . A drone would be really great, but Im not that into that. We learned a ton - how a good dam is built, how much silt can accumulate over 60 years, where to ditch sediment, how to grow grass on silt, all of it. The funniest thing for me is all the keyboard pond reconditioners that give advice like, "get a long boom excavator to scoop silt from the edge of the pond." Or better still, "Sell the silt to the county for road projects." Clearly, those folks have never seen what 5 yards of pond sediment looks like, or that 6 months later it is still the consistency of pudding.

Got about 3" of rain earlier in the week, now it's about 1' from spilling over.

Yesterday myself and a few others went fishing at my friend's and we stocked my pond with 3 bass and 6 perch.

Today I added a row of cinder blocks to the dock, next I'll pour a 10'x2' concrete pad on top of the blocks that will come up to the height of the deck boards, then build the decking. After that I'll cut the grade down slightly so the grass will be level with the concrete pad and dock, that way the kids can get way back and run as fast as possible to jump off the end lol
