Good morning!!!!

You guys are gonna make me get my RC planes flying again.
I’ve got a Goldberg Sukhoi and MK Super Chipmunk both with OS 1.20 4 strokes with fuel pump. Also 72” span J3 with OS 90 Four Stroke that has floats and a tow hitch. My favorite and best flyer is a Great Planes Super Sportster 120 with an OS 1.08 two stroke. There’s also a couple of .40 sized two strokers, a Dirty Birdy and a Stunt Wagon. None of them have flown in probably ten years. I’ve thought about converting some to electric, but haven’t done anything. Oh, there’s a couple of helicopters as well.

I’m sure that all my batteries are bad, and not sure if my radios are legal any more.

I went electric for a while Pop, I still have a few E Planes but I gave some away. I missed the 'real' engines and was sick of forever charging and replacing batteries. Hard to find good batteries and they are not cheap anymore. I think I have about 5 x E-planes and 3 or 4 gliders as well.
I have a couple of 1.5cc diesel engines and a couple of OS 15 engines and one has only been run for 5 minutes so it's like new. Must be 45 years old. I started it recently to see if it ran. Perfect.
I had a hiatus for several years after my divorce in 2000 and sold everything I had much to my later regret but I had no place to store everything back then.
Once it's in the blood it stays there.

yes, new 9 spoke polished aluminum wheels with much larger tires

my favorite McGyver came and fixed my generator this afternoon. Desoldered and resoldered the rocker switch, changed out a fuse, and vrooooom.
yeah.
we get by with a little help from our friends.

Gheez, Drew, this stuff is making me more and more nervous, because I have exactly the same generator as you. So I should be expecting problems?

We got .5” rain last night after midnight. Garden looks nice and damp. We needed that. Sorry LS that you not getting any.
Whereas over here, just south of the Beltway (where they predicted flash floods) my back porch got less than 1/4" :(.
I had just recently installed a rain gauge and was expecting lots of rain.

Good morning. Again with the yoyo temps overnight but the low this morning was 1.1C. It's windy from the SE and mostly sunny; high may make 12C but that's without the wind-chill.

I 'accidentally' had a bottle of Cab-Sav last night.

The wood's in and I really do need to get a few things accomplished... or not.;)

Take care all.

59F and clear @ 22:30, heading down to a low of 53F for the night.

Absolutely beautiful day today.

Got the squash plants in that next starter tray transplanted, had 12 holes got 10 plants out of it. They were ready:

IMG_1762 copy.jpg

After that I repotted the last 4 green bell peppers that were in peat pots. Still have lots of red and yellow bell peppers to repot though.

Followed that up with some more planting in the second circle where the coral bells are.

Two hosta from the Mixed Hosta Value Bag (which I have yet to identify), the original Alexander's Great Brunnera, one of the Blue Mouse Ears hosta, the Tokudama Flavocircinalis hosta, which had a nice little bloom on it (and which The Woman now says I should have bought more of ... ) and two of the of "Fanal" Astilibes.

That pretty much completes the planting in that area of stuff we have bought I think, unless I decide to stick some toad lilies in there.

After the planting I got six bags of mulch placed in there. Two bags still left in the van, will get those spread tomorrow so I can head down to Menards and get the next load.

I'm avoiding mulching the edge over by the rhododendron on the left and the outside edge of the circle as I plan to plant more of the green/white variegated hosta we have growing here there.

It's starting to take shape though:

Time for a piece of that chocolate cake and then a shower before I hit the rack.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Good evening all. 68ºF for the start, overcast, light breeze. Light wind, overcast morning, Clearing in afternoon, high temp was 88ºF, HI 97ºF. Puttered till bike ride, then after lunch took string trimmer for walk, felt hotter than 97ºF HI :(. Gopher active again, put smoke bomb in one tunnel, found another and flushed a lot of dirt back down hole. He has not responded yet.

Paul I got rid of my RC fleet, lost the flying field in STL, and work kept on consuming more hours. Drifter II with Cox.049 engine modified to 3/4 oz fuel tank, one my former bosses was R/C enthusiast with Aeronautical Eng degree, and did several nice designs in the .40 to .60 sized engines. I gave it all away, radios were obsolete.
Randy(wag) the yoyo temps are weird.

It's a Gasoline engine. My biggest one, but I also have a Saito FG 11 gas, a FG17 gas and a FA 82 Nitro as well.
The plane is a Phoenix Tiger 3 70" span. Designed for a 61 but I am putting the big donkey in it. I also have a large Black Horse Stuka still in the box to build one day.
Other planes are a Super Air and a Calmato. All in flying order.
I'll put a pic of it up when I get the tail feathers on etc. The gear is all installed. Just waiting on some servo extensions and Y leads and Tygon fuel tubing.
Always liked the Kadet Senior. Just never got around to getting one.
The tiger is an awesome plane. That Saito will power it around at 1/4 throttle! Anxiously awaiting some build pics....

Paul (popG), The new 2.4GHz radios are nice, relatively cheap compared to the older radios. BUT... in my readings/research, the old 72MHz are still usable. I have read recommendations for people to still use them because there are so few still in use, there wouldn't be any interference.

I have 2 of the old Futaba super 8's and 2 of the HiTec Eclipse 7's. I have 2 "conversion kits", but not sure if I will use them or not.... probably put them to use on the electric planes I have, just because they don't get too far out.

For the sail planes, I'm going to stick with the old 72MHz, just due to the extended range / altitude that I 'speckle' them at.

I was surprised at the low cost of the RC batteries now. Probably 25% of what they used to cost. I was astounded that the Lithium batteries that I had sitting on the shelf for probably 10 years, took a full charge after cycling them a few times. All my Nicads and NiMH were toast.

My son used to have a 1/4 scale Cub with a 23cc Zenoah. That was a sweet plane. I was upset when he sold it.

I started rehabbing my planes, but life has again gotten in the way.... for the short term. That and the wind just hasn't given up yet, so not many chances to get them out. I am hoping soon....
