I put my shoe on one day and it seemed tight so I took it off and shook it and a squashed mouse fell out. Had to go change my socks.
I sat on my tractor seat and felt squirming when my back touched the seat

Fastest tractor dismount in history wasn't very graceful though

Neighbor happened to be hanging out in the back yard and witnessed it

When I was a little kid, my grandmother was babysitting us for a few days while my parents were out of town. The cat brought in a mouse and it was injured and flopping around on the floor. Right in front of all of us kids, she threw a newspaper over the mouse, stomped on it with her foot, then wiped it up with the newspaper and said "DisgGUSTing!"

For little kids, that was something to see.

🤣

She didn't RE-HOME it???

I witnessed a dismount from the drivers seat at approximately 20 MPH because a mouse ran up her leg! I got the car stopped and ran back to her as she was getting dressed again. She was tripping!!! We laugh now, not then.

Y'all need to check your T-pounder before you lift it up and over a T-post and start pounding. At least I do. Not the best way to start the day - we were stringing a fence and I began to use the pounder on a T-post. The first clue that something was not right was when, instead of the usual loud clang and concurrent jolt to the hands and arms, I felt a thud. Maybe there was mud in the pounder. So, I kept at it. Still no clang – just more thuds. I kept at it. First some liquid - then the remains of a squirrel fell out - not much left of it after 8 or 9 good wacks. Already TMI so I won’t provide more details. But I guess I have a story.
U sure do have a story, goddam!

I guess it might be better to store it vertical with the open end on the floor.

I removed the hood from my riding lawn mower to work on the engine last year. Felt a bit heavy when I lifted it off. Pretty good sized rat snake had curled up around the headlamp assembly.

But never anything in my post driver.

That's what I do...

Then again, I remember growing up with all sorts of warnings and posters about "look before you reach or step" because of rattlesnakes and then lived in an area with rather toxic insects that made shaking out one's shoes each morning essential. My brother got a bad sting from an unhappy scorpion in one of his shoes. Some of the insects gave you permanent non-healing sores.

Could be worse though; down under there are brown snakes and Huntsman spiders, and in India the local names for the some of the poisonous snakes are how many steps you will supposedly be able to take after being bitten, e.g. the 7-step krait, and the 21-step krait...

I leave tube traps around the outside of our buildings to keep the ground squirrels from entrenching themselves under the buildings. Rodents seem to love tubes.

All the best,

Peter

I think this was a 'one and done' situation - likely will never happen again, and doubtful it has happened to anyone else. I agree - you would think the critter would have jumped out. I also thought that maybe it was already dead in there but if so he was very recently dead as it was totally fresh - if you know what I mean. Quite an unpleasant surprise when everything started running out.

I usually have the pounder handing in the tractor shed, but this time it had been left out on the ground where I was working - and BTW - where there are ground squirrel holes everywhere.
