Maybe they've been talking to the John Deere people about HOW to screw people with their 'no individual repairs' contracts. The manufacturers are going insane with this, "If we don't have something new no one will buy our automobiles." Just a bunch of BS to pry money out of customers' pockets.
John Deere is not constrained by the Moss Magnusson act. This act requires auto manufactures to make their vehicles available to be serviced by anyone. They have to provide documentation, tools, etc. to non-company businesses (at a cost of course). Look it up for more info.

John Deere is fighting this law. They want to be able to have a strangle hold on their market.

Just bought a 2022 Chevy Silverado. It has 2 remote start options. One is on the FOB. This is mine for the life of the truck at no additional cost. Works within 200 ft of the truck. The other is remote start using the MyChevrolet app on my phone. This requires a $6 a month OnStar subscription and includes all of the functionality of the MyChevrolet app. I can start my car with the MyChevrolet app from anywhere in the US. Other app features are unlimited wifi data on the truck's hotspot, trailer light testing (every truck should have this), lock / unlock, sound alarm, flash lights, unlock tailgate, vehicle locate / tracking. For me, these features are worth $6.
Why would you want to start your truck from Asia or out of country?

Imagine going 60 mph in a 55 speed zone. Star link detects it and you are automatically fined and your credit score is reduced. If you have reached your allowed ration of gas they know and you wont be able to pump gas. Starlink has the ability to monitor every aspect of the vehicle you drive from emissions to starting, shutting it down, unlocking or locking you out if necessary. The first thing people do is link their phones. Gives them access to a lt of personal info the car ends up knowing more about you than you ever imagined. I could almost guarantee that the seat warmer has very little to do with keeping your butt comfy. Hell could be to tax you for that methane gas you just blasted into it. (LOL) There is a very good reason behind these forced so called options. This is just a small part of the new world order that the Federal Gov is forcing us into. Tracking everyone's every move is their top priority. Build Back Better they say.
* Starlink * ??? maybe you mean OnStar.

So reading this I see everything is already in the car. What this means is weather buying it new or used you are definitely paying for those features once at purchase and then they want to take even more from you to use them.

I own a BMW now and it’s the worst car I ever owned. Constantly needs something fixed, check engine light after check engin e light, heated seat on drivers side stopped working properly years ago had to have sunroof disconnected because it opened by itself, seats adjust for no reason, windows have gone down by themselves, bushing after bushing in the suspension, brakes although great when new warp with one hard emergency stop ( multiple times with multiple drivers) transmission shifts like crap just like the first one did, 4 wheel drive actuator made out of cheep plastic and was a 1400 dollar repair at the dealer (3 times it went out) we fixed it ourselves the second two times and installed a machined gear that won’t wear for no reason this time.
Many other things have gone wrong but I can’t remember them all off the top of my head.

So this article has me wondering if all the mysterious things it did were in fact BMW trying to get me to trade it on a new one. Won’t work they won’t ever get our money again!

I would drive a model T everyday rather than give them 1 cent for anything they have!

I think there is a disconnect now, with American Car Manufactures and the buyers.

At least there are few with this interested buyer.

Is there some place we could reference were by we could see that people ASKED for all these options on Trucks? Is there some internal document, a national survey of some sort that says 90% of new truck buyers absolutely needs a 350 HP plus tubo charged engine, 18 mile to the gallon, heads up display, side airbag fitted, 7 cup holder, automatic window, heated seat, USB port and wireless cell phone charging, lane warning, rear entertainment center, Semi self driving, Auto adjusting 4 WD, self leveling tow, remote start, pneumatic tail gate, heated side mirrors, reverse camera, self parking, auto dimming head lights, huge tires that make no sense, and no freaken way you can work on the truck on your own.

And to add insult to injury, some of the features are subscription.

I do not understand this. And would never buy a new truck or any truck made after 1994. Which I believe to be the last year that airbags were not required.

Close, 1998 was when they were required. Many had them before then.

Yeah, $30/month for heated seats in New Zealand! (Perhaps they only need it one month a year?)
Ive got all 4 heated seats in my Kia Sportage and it costs me nothing. At my location in New Zealand they are "nice to have" for 3 or 4 months, further south in the snow-n-ice they'd be very welcome.

I guess I have driven 40+ years and never had remote start. If they block a feature I don't need or want, who cares? I'm not a big fan of the overall concept, but how often do you need remote start?
If you live in Minnesota it’s nice to have to warm up the car about 9 months a year.

I've been struggling with Free Cad. It seems an imponderable mess compared to the very expensive commercial package TurboCad that runs on windows. I keep a hard disk with Win 7 on it for just the one program.
The big thing to overcome in FreeCAD is right after its launch. The splash page is shown first. It's the module organizer. People are fully use to launching a CAD pacakge and seeing the 3D window environment right off the bat. Not so in FreeCAD. Once you know this, you can then pick the drop down module and begin your work. I've been running FreeCAD since V14. It gotten better.

If you only want 2D, then TruboCAD you have and CADAM Drafting 5.17 is still free. I've used DraftSite Free version, but it's limited. Solidworks DWGEditor is free on certain sites, but no longer available off of the Dassault Systems website. It's a 100% clone of AutoCAD 2007 LT and comes with even more translators.

I do both 3D and 2D for CNC machining of parts. 3D is critical for tractor gears.

Nope he really means STARLINK.

STARLINK (5G & 6G) is the Elon Musk version of SKYNET - aka the Terminator movies.
Starlink is our near future AI Armageddon shifting to a terminator era. There is an entire discussion on Reddit on how this could play out.

Movies often times are a little ahead of showing glimpses of what is to come.

Yes, your vehicle in the USA can be started from Asia or any other place from Starlink. It could be hacked too.

Who needs a phone to use those monthly fee options, you can just be present to control them.
