The first machine is an Avey multi spindle drill press, the spindle to the far right has a Procunier tapping head on it. The big-name manufacturers back in the day were Avey, Cincinnati-Bickford and Leland-Gifford.

Pettibone Mulliken on photo 3 was the previous name of Pettibone mfg in the 1900s they made railroad equipment I believe. they still manufacture forestry and off road forklifts in Baraga MI, I reluctantly rented a very old Pettibone forklift to set my trusses.

Jeff has good local info and knew the jig was made for or by Pettibone. More pics below.

I've operated one like that. Those could do just about anything.

The local machine shop near me has a lot of older equipment. The owner is in his 70s and has been trying to find a buyer for maybe 10 years. Since he already owns the equipment that he bought many years ago, his cost of operation to him is a lot less than what someone else would have if they bought him out today. I think he had one younger buyer that was seriously interested, but then something happened and the sale fell through.

By the time you factor in the cost of moving this kind of machinery, someone really needs a healthy amount of steady income from it to be able to afford it.

It's just sad to see a shop closed up like this.

Four head gang drill press, tapper on the end. I see some clamps i could use!
