I don't know of any best way to do that. What I have done is simply change all the filters and oil several times and in between changes exercising the hydraulics in every way I can think of. There isn't a much better cleaner than hot oil, and the screen filter gives you access to the sump.
Once the debris makes it too the bottom of the sump (hydraulic cavity) I figure the tractor is safe.
good luck, and tell us how it goes.

I just recently aquired the tractor from a family member. he said the tractor had been setting up about 10 months. I think it was a lot longer than that. when i got it it would not run. Had to replace the fuel pump. then the hydraulics were very jerky when operated. I drained the fluid and pulled the screen out and it was completly clogged with what looked like algie. cleaned it and replaced the fluid and filter. have about 5 hours run time on it and the hydraulics started jerking again. drained the fluid and pulled the screen again and it was completly clogged with some type of fiber like material???

Do you have any pictures to show us what this "fiber like material" looks like?

this is a picture of the filter screen. I have a picture of one large part of the fiber on my phone but it did not transfer. I will try to upload it.

Problem found. The debris is from the brake assembly. Had a mechanic look at it. Estimated repair $1000. Ouch!
