UPDATE: my friend Kabota came out today. I told him the problem I was having. He basically pressured the left-hand side against a strong oak tree. Then he looked at it again pressured the right hand side, just a little bit. I was able to latch the pins just great. It’s basically what I did to get the BS attached last week, but with a little more confidence. Reading is good, thinking is good, but getting advice from people who actually know is priceless. Thanks.

Great but that really did not fix the source of the problem. You can go around hunting strong oak trees and posts, etc. OR you can get that bale spear plate straightened. I said several posts ago to get a good straight edge and find out just how far out of flat the thing is. And while I'm at it with free advice, I am not in favor of grinding anything. All that does is makes all your SSQA attachments looser than they need to be -- as if all of them were bent.

Excellent point. I’m going to need the BS within the next few days. After that, I won’t need it till winter feeding. During that break, I am going to pursue the more permanent solution. Might even include purchase of a new tractor with quick attach PTO and Cab. I’m in northern Minnesota about 100 miles from the Canada border on the ND side. It gets cold in the winter. Thanks, doing the best I can. Appreciate all the posts

The Euro Global quick attach is a much more robust and easier to use system, then the SSQA ever thought of being.

It appears to me that the plate with the rectangular slot is bent downward on the side that does not 'latch' well. This narrows the intersection of the pin. Perhaps that bracket got bent lifting something.
Get someone with an Acetylene Torch, Heat both inside ends to red hot and beat or lever that plate upward.

I have the ssqa on my tractor but on the farm the two loader tractors have the Euro Global,
in my mind using both there is no comparison.

But there are a million examples of this out there (VHS vs Beta, anyone?). When something becomes the standard it is very hard to replace it no matter how much better the replacement is...

Yeah, the Euro crowd is always trying to fold the U.S. into the Hershey M&M group. How do you to count those M&Ms anyway? It doesn't make any sense to a "true American". Pounds and inches are what sets America up front. ;)

Careful, you will trigger the SSQA fanboys.
Not sure how we got off on this tangent but... any of you guys ever see or use the European quick hitch which is triangular in basic shape? It is like 2 pieces of C-channel on the implement (like a triangle with the bottom piece missing) and a full 3 sided triangle on the FEL that is centered on the loader. The Triangle is male and the implement socket is female. Roughly 2' on each edge as I recall. I saw them in Austria in 2000 and was amazed how simple and easy they hook up. Self centering. Once you raise the FEL triangle vertically into the twin C-channel socket on the implement all you do is put in a pin (or 2?) and you are hooked up.

What is the name for that system? Is it still in use? Any in the USA ?
