Mowing is done...giving it a more thorough looksee, that tree is way too much for me to work on. One of my wife's relative's husband, a jack of all trades kinda guy, wants the wood so, he's welcome to it. I'll slip him a couple hundred bucks to go with the wood...he'll earn it.
Wife and stepdaughter went out for some grub...

Today we are having a picnic with one of our kids at the Penn Mar Park on the Appalachian Trail. A beautiful little park. parks-pen-mar
It has an outlook point overlooking a vast area of southern PA and it is close to our farm. Our farm is also located next to the Appalachian Trail but further south of Penn Mar.

I had lunch at blue ridge summit, just a couple miles from PenMar park. Had I known I could have crashed the party.

Thanks for that Scotty. Always interested in reading about batteries. Love my Lifpo batteries here at the house SimpliPhi 3.8s, 48v- 3 yo this Nov.

Yes it has been 3 yrs, I remember because I was recovering from GBS at that time and I still had my bed set up in my family room, and I was diagramming your setup based on your description.

Currently 89F and sunny @ 15:00, HI 92F, DP 65F. High hit 89F here today (so far)

Up very late today after a very long and blissful sleep recovering from yesterday.

I ended up taking a couple hour nap yesterday afternoon due to limited sleep the night before. Got a text around 14:00 from young neighbor that he was on his way down.

Got all the gutters and downspouts on the house torn off and removed after he got here. Now the trim that they were mounted on can have the holes from the spikes filled and it can be stained before the new gutters are put up.

Probably will replace the roof before putting on the new gutters though. And before that is done the chimney needs some tuck pointing done and the mortar cap around the flues (3) needs replaced.

After that he cut up the long branches from the tree trimming he did the other day and I hauled and added them to the brush pile in the back. Only thing left at this point is some leaves and twigs which I'll handle with the Cub and/or the Stihl blower later today.

Then we started cleaning out the pump house for the frog pond and got some of that palletized and moved out of the way. Next step there will be to start removing the exterior cedar siding so the OSB sheathing can be removed to allow access to the pump, filter, and heater so those can be removed before the pump house can be demolished.

The only thing salvageable on the building is probably the roof ... since the doofuses that constructed it originally built it with the wood resting directly on the concrete slab which caused the bottom to rot out.

Then he started removing all the concrete slab on the west side and got that largely done and the concrete hauled back to the woods:

Concrete chucks will be used to fill in that ditch that is eroding across the back of the property.

He's due to get his big truck back here shortly after which he'll bring down his 22' dump trailer and we'll load with all the scrap metal I have accumulated and it will get hauled to the scrap metal dealer.

All in all, not a bad day production-wise, considering how late we got started.

Agenda for the rest of today is to get the service completed on the Cub and then start catching up on the mowing.

Probably about all I'll get done.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday ... (y)

68°F and clear skies this morning, got up to 93° briefly, and is 89° now.

Got some mowing done today, felt like I mostly just moved some dust a little north courtesy of the wind. Hauled a pear tree limb off to the burn pile, which had snapped under the weight of an abundance of pears this year. Some were already pretty big, but most were about lemon-sized.

I w3as whining to The Wife earlier today about how dusty and hard the ground is from lack of rain. My phone just beeped with one pop-up notice of a lightning strike nearby, and another of rain staring in 15 minutes. Nothing in the forecast, but radar shows a small line headed our way. Hope this one holds together long enough to gift us with some water.

Happy (belated) Anniversary, Kyle. Ours is coming up on Thursday.

Good afternoon, gents.
