70's again...

$1.99 a car load drive in theater. If you parked in the back row you could watch the cows at the fence mooing at you
$0.99 a 6 pack of Rhinelander beer. First one was a bit tough to get down, the rest went down just fine.
Cases of most beer were 24 to a case. also around 4+ bucks as well

And the freedom to go out and have some fun. never feared staying out late or all night somewhere.

as high school kids we did drink ( dont judge) We gather on Friday and Saturday nights at a secluded beach having a fire, party and having fun. The local police would leave us alone if we misbehaved.

My best buy back in the day aroun 1984 was beer. I was buying at the base liquour store. $4.50 a case and it came with a mail-in rebate of $5.00. They were paying ME to drink their beer. First (and last) time I ever made money by getting drunk.

I remember paying about $3.00 a carton for cigarettes about then at the base exchange which were $10-12 off base at the time.

I used to buy booze by stopping under a bridge and offering a "one for me, one for you" deal to the drunks. Give them a ride to the liquor store, hand them a 10, get a fifth of Everclear and whatever they wanted, then mix half it with a gallon of lemonade for a teenage party. Fun summer times. We used to set up a volleyball/badminton net at a little-used rural park, tune all the car radios to the same station, and spend a summer afternoon getting tanked. We told all the parents it was a picnic, and they would send food along. We never got busted.

We used the frozen pink lemonade. Or made Hunch Punch, two large cans of Hawaiian Punch, a Sprite, and fruit. The brand here was Golden Grain, 180 proof or 90% alcohol. One pint. Girls liked it too.

back in the 70's
local restaurant... 99 cent 2 eggs hashbrowns and 2pc toast
Denny's 24 hour 3.99 Grand Slam breakfast
Skippers Tuesday night all you can eat fish, chowder.
Local restaurant... Thursday night all you could eat turkey dinner
Local restaurant 9.99 Prime Rib dinner
Local restaurant Tuesday night 4.99 blueplate special including ice cream
couple different local restaurants 9.99 all you could eat smorgasbords
Keep in mind that $9.99 was pretty serious money back in the 70s.
Always wondered about the all day breakfast thing...are there people who want to eat breakfast fare in the middle of the afternoon? I'd imagine there must be, but it seems odd to me. Personally, I'd prefer lunch menu even during breakfast hours...not real crazy about eggs or most other breakfast fare.

Well, my parents would have had a bird if I stayed out all night, but I've never been a night person so not much of a chance of that happening.
As far as drinking, didn't most high school kids do it (or at least try it), if for no other reason than to look/feel "grown up"? My parents were fairly cool about it, if I wanted a beer just take one out of the fridge and have it. Consequently, I didn't feel the need to go out and get sh*tfaced with friends. My best friend in high school's parents were just the opposite...strict teetotalers who'd preach nonstop on the evils of alcohol. Of course, it had the opposite effect and made it all that more attractive to him.

Never could handle hard liquor. The few times I tried it was...feel nothing, feel nothing, falling down drunk. Not pleasant.
Alcohol in general doesn't really agree with me, but I'm OK with an occasional beer or glass of wine. Hard stuff, nope.

Early 80s, bar in Cleveland did Rolling Rock ponies @ 3 for 75 cents. They usually stayed open after others did last call, so everyone wound up there till 2:30. POC's were cheaper, but THAT was a crap awful beer. Stood for Pride of Cleveland, but we all called it P_ss of Cleveland. Later in Chicago, could get Leinenkuegel for 50 to 75 cents apiece when everything else was 1.25 to 1.5

What can I say but I was always the designated driver...

When I got my license I would get calls to pick people up at bars and it soured me on the whole idea of drinking and spending hard earned money on alcohol...

Out West there was a beer call Brown Derby and remember a $1.99 a case...

Still got my unused cowboy knife collection. Don't remember how old it is though. I gave my
prized Roy Rogers knife to my best friend who wanted it. Wish I had it back.
