Why no Ecoboost in the F250?

Remember to that automakers only need and want the vehicle to last a few years to get out of warranty

Diesel lasting 500k in a truck isn't worth it. it's better it blows up 1 mile out of warranty.

And dont think people would quit buying them if they were junk, people went back to ford after the 6.0, 6.4 , Triton, eco boost. And so on

Not to mention poeple keep buying gm junk after the northstar engines failing for 7 years with no remedy for buyers, and the junk transmissions that they've been selling in their 1500 trucks and suv's.

You really gotta pick and choose what you buy, because they all make junk...even the Japanese branded vehicles. Some people won't admit it though.

Here we go again, comparing modern gas engines to ancient relic diesels from 35 years ago…..

I had a 1991 F-350 with a 460 gasser in it. It made 220 HP.

My V-10 is a 2002. Hardly modern. That’s a strong pulling engine though with way more power than what was available a few years before.

See, there’s your problem, you don’t own a modern diesel in a light truck. If you did, your diesel v. gas analysis posts wouldn’t be dismal.
If you took a ride in mine, especially towing heavy, you’d run out an buy one.
Went across scales yesterday @ 49,920lbs!

I’ve rode in newer Cummins and Duramax trucks. And yes they pull strong but I don’t want to pay that much for a truck. My next tow vehicle is probably going to be a single axel semi. I like towing with medium duty’s. My 750 might not have all that much power but it’s got brakes.

ecoboost is a fancy pants way of getting more energy out of a smaller engine.
Assuming the energy produced and demanded are within the Tolerance of the original unmodified engine, then it's fine.
If however, the demands that will be placed on the engine exceed the original engine's unmodified capacity then it's a way of destroying the engine.
Sort of like a kid thinking he can get his KIA to be a Race car and puts a supercharger or nitrous on it. It won't last long.

(note, I did just learn they share the same block as the base duratec 3.5L, evidently plenty strong enough with sufficient cooling capacity).

The pistons, connecting rods and crankshaft are pretty stout (approaching diesel-like, if you will). Piston oil squirters, both port and direct fuel injection, and lots lots more tech.

I’ll make another useless point. People often think a modern V8 as old school. In Fords the modern 5.0 is very high tech, direct injection and indirect injection, 4 valve, active intakes I think, aluminum block’s and heads.

I am by no means a Ford ecoboost fan boy, and we have two 3rd gen Cummins powered Rams, but was impressed with a ride in the 3.5 ecoboost truck.

The old Ford video of some of the tests they put the 3.5 through during development and early production were impressive. Mike Rowe is a good salesman. Old 448AA went to hell and back

If I had to tow with a gas truck it would be a Hemi ram after we pulled my Ford TLB home the other day at around 24500 gross weight with the nephews 2015 2500.
It did a really good job.

Yeah no mention of the timing chains condition either. But it was reportedly a random engine pulled off of the production line.

Yokes, I don’t like single axle tractors. They get stuck on wet grass.
My 5500 has 4WD, so I can get out of those situations (most of the time) and it fits in my garage at the end of a hard work day. It’s also very comfortable.

I’d look at a tandem-much better traction and stability.
