I've owned this tractor for quite a while and just noticed this ring slightly popping out of the loader cylinder. Do I give it a little tap or let it be since it's still working?

That looks like the rod wiper so I would carefully tap it back in.

From the photo you posted it appears the protrusion you reference has been that way for sometime. If not leaking I would leave alone and continue to monitor for future change and any is detected take action at that time.

I am a believer in, "If it isn't broke, don't try to fix it".

My opinion is halfway between the two preceding: Use a wood or plastic block, and give it a tap with a hammer. If it moves in really easily, it may have been ready to pop/drop out - tap it in more. If a light tap has no affect on it, and it's not leaking, leave it be, and keep a good eye on it. It is much easier to tap it back a bit, than to completely reinstall it if it pops out.

Are you sure it's not one of the "paint rings" that just go over the rod and don't really do anything?
If it is just one of those rings, it would just move easily.

That ring wipes the rod clean so dirt and junk don't mess up the real seals. Tap it back in place with a block of wood. If it won't go down, pop the ring loose and clean the groove that it goes down into. Sure you can leave it alone, you can leave everything alone.

Heck, the wiper rings are still on both of my Kubota's. Never took them off. Mean nothing to me actually.

Alright, finally got to messing with it. It would not tap black into place with a wood block and hammer. Tried with a piece of aluminum and a hammer and it went back in pretty easily. Some water did come out as I pushed the ring in. Moved a round bale with it today and nothing seems to be any different.
