Good Morning!!!! 64F @ 4:15AM.
Plentiful sunshine. High 86F. Winds light and variable.
Glad to hear about your rain, Kyle. Hope it amounts to something.
I have similar media exposure to yours, David (only 3 OTA stations, test screens, outages, etc.). Like Kyle, I like watching motorsports, but the coverage via satellite seems to be cutting back with shorter shows these days. Year before last, though, one morning we had smoke so thick the sun never came up. And it took out the satellite internet, so I had no way of determining where it was burning. It had been raining burnt leaves all the night before, so it was a very stressful day. I ended up listening to local radio stations while sitting in my truck, and the information wasn't that timely or accurate. But it was a lot like the old days when all you had was a few stations, and a newspaper to tell you what happened a day or two later.
And FWIW, we're also on the same page regarding snow shoveling and leaf rakeing.
Did your laser level come with a grade stick and detector? They work even when you can't see the line, but accuracy isn't as good.
Great leaf color, Billy. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome fatjay. That's a lot of water!
Check ride yesterday went smoothly, with nothing much to fix when I got home. The foam cover on the microphone mouthpiece in my helmet keeps coming loose, but a bit of crazy glue fixed it right up. Didn't get back until almost noon, though, and it was a bit warm to be wearing leathers by then. But with mountain weather on my horizon, and a cooling trend, I don't think it'll be too bad. If things go as planned, by this time tomorrow morning, temps will be down in the mid 30s and I'll be looking for a restaurant to pull into and warm up.
The tech support guy found two devices using the same IP address yesterday, and when I turned one of them off, things started to settle down. Everything's on DHCP, so I don't understand how that could happen. And when I tried to plug everything back into the questionable switch, the problems started again. Ended up putting a smaller switch upstream of the questionable one, and attaching my most important cameras to it. Then only using two or three ports on the problem switch, which it seems to handle OK, as there have been no further error messages. That bodge will get me through the weekend, but it's not a long term solution. Just need to be able to check in and take a look around while I'm on the road.
EDIT: Just checked, and the tech support guy has issued an RMA for the broken switch. Hopefully this next replacement will work better than the current one.
Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!
