If I'm not mistaken (don't believe I am because I saw the sales literature for it), JD is marketing an electric tractor or two right now.

It may be a hoax but what isn't a hoax is a lot of large power companies commitments to retire all of their coal plants within the next 8 years. So, Wind, Solar for you, unless you are Michigan and fortunate enough to live in the Cook nuclear service territory. It's going to get interesting.

Do a search for "John Deere Swarm concept"...the video below shows a grid connected cable but somewhere I saw a generator rig...may not have been Deere...
