Nice! It looks like mine will be taken apart and put away for the winter. I have too many other projects which need to be done before a shelter for the mill.
I finished cutting a couple of weeks ago. Its in the storage building, but still needs to come back out for an oil change before it gets much colder. I have a pipe axle and two hard plastic wheels about 20" diameter that I put under one end, and then I can tow/push where I need to. Jon

Might get a roof on before this year’s snowmageddon starts.

That's going to be nice once you get it done. Do you also have plans for some type of log deck?

It appears that the inspector in the second photo is happy with your work. The official in the first picture doesn't seem as impressed. Could it be that your project is cutting into your ball throwing time? :D

A buddy gave me the I beams and the gas pipe was an auction score several years ago. Must have bought about 70 10 footers and have slowly been going through them on all sorts of projects.

I’m still thinking about a log deck. Just using the tractor and grapple to place the logs for now.

After church this morning (and after it warms up sufficiently for MrsKilroyJC…) we will head up to out woodlot and hopefully complete assembly of about WoodMizer LX55. The remaining assembly is: the lifting cables and crank assembly, clutch control, measuring stick, and foam handle grip (Which I think will be the most challenging!), then head leveling and blade squaring adjustments, followed by a “check that everything is tightened down properly one more time” and a triple-check of bed level.

and possibly even a first fire-up!

I hope that the assembly instructions are better than what came with my LX25. I'm still figuring things out, like the bolts which determine how low the saw head will drop. It took me the longest time to realize why the lowest it would go was 1 1/2 inches.

I'm done for the week. I hit something and ruined a(nother) blade... the last of the extras I bought with the mill. That's OK, I had ordered another box of five earlier this summer... too bad that I didn't pay enough attention to the length. At least they'll fit the Woodland my neighbors up the road bought last summer.

Bummer on the blades.
I've managed to not saw into any of the saws backstops or log clamp although the original owner did quite a few times. My biggest offense is (repeatedly) not lifting the blade high enough for the return trip to clear the log.
The other less frequent is forgetting to tension the blade. 🤪
Either of these events seem to have a 50/50 chance of damaging, usually bending the blade.
Today was the first time I used a blade that I re sharpened and was quite happy with the results.
