While moving some brush to make a garden, I hit a stump in 1st gear low range. Then.....POP, loader will raise, lower, dump.....but no rollback....ugh.
I look for leaks, broken pins, cracks or anything obvious.

I am not sure what happened.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

While that sounds it may have hurt something, let's start with the "cheap" stuff first. Check the quick connects. Make sure those are fully seated, even though it may look fully seated in the first place.

Check, with tractor running and with it off. The yellow one hissed air once or twice and then oil. Dump works, rollback doesn't.
I unhook all lines and connected.

Maybe you got Lucky and just cracked the retract curl seal in one or both curl cylinders. Since it sounds like you can control the dump function also sounds like the pistons are still attached to the rods

I have killed a couple in the past and the chevron seal severed at the point it forms into the main part of the seal (These seals were pretty ancient at over 20 years old. The cylinders could be made to curl but was slow and immediately began drop back down once the control was released, since the piston itself was metering the oil from one side of the piston to the other inside the cylinder with the actual seal having failed.

Hope that makes sense and You get the tractor back up and functional quickly.

A day without a working tractor is like a day without sunshine.

After trying the tractor again. The dump function, doesn't have any power. It won't even pick up front of tractor like I was changing a tire or beating a bent rim back into shape...cough...cough....

I would say bad seals then. Time to pull those cylinders apart and check that out.

You can often get all seals for a cylinder on an hydraulic shop for a loooot cheaper than the OEM seal kits.

I'll check that out. Never done this before, anything special I need to be aware of? Taking cylinders off looks self explanatory. The breaking down and pulling cylinders apart, not so much...lol

I've been looking on some place in Michigan website for seal and the parts diagram. Seal kits are like $55 plus shipping, I don't know how that would compare to a shop. I definitely will check that out.

While it's down, I have some maintenance to do on it elsewhere. Backhoe pins need replaced, some more modification to my dogs riding platform I made for him. Lights need fix'in too......Shewwwww....It never ends....

When you blow a seal, what does it sound like?

This sounded like something clearly and loudly broke. I first thought it was a pin, kind of a metal sound like a bolt snapping.

I'm gonna try and pull the cylinders off tonight and figure out a work space to pull them apart.

I would swap the loader quick connections for the bucket quick connections. See if the problem remains the same or not. If it stays the same then the problem is likely with the cylinders as outlined. If the bucket functions properly and now the loader arms don't move then the problem is with the valve.
