Hi All,

We are looking for recommendations for the best brand, models, etc of tow behind lawn vacs. Not interested in using on a mower, but rather with a long hose to reach into flower beds and remote areas. I do have PTO capability or can tow behind a lawn tractor. Any experiences you may have would be very helpful. Thank you!

Why pull leaves from flower beds? Our church had a silly lawn vac system with a motor driven blower sitting behind the seat of a Sears underbelly mower on which the blower sucked. It blew the leaves into a pulled trailer with a canvas covering.

Told them I'd take over the lawn (with LOTS of mature oak trees on 4 or 5 acres) if they'd let me buy a zero turn. Did, and got a Scag. I had the Scag discharging inward until it started to bog down. Then reversed for a turn before back to discharging inward again. Took care of the leaves enough such that they didn't affect the grass other than to provide nutrients of the grass.

If the Scag was a mulching one, I wouldn't have to go through that bogging down bit when discharging stuff inward. I've used a regular mulching mower on my own lawns, and they chop the leaves up fine.

Latest research on leaves is that initially they turn the soil acidic but later goes neutral with further decay. They're good nutrients for beds, lawns and trees. Nature puts them there for that.

Cyclone Rake is quality made in the USA, very reliable. I've had mine for 10 years with no issues. I use it with the mower and with the pickup tube. Check out the website.

Plus 1 on Cyclone Rake. I’ve had mine about 10 years also.
Good product, and good customer service

I do the same with a ZTR and mulching plug. I only blow the driveway and the majority of pine needles. No lawn vac, no bagger, no hours of leaf blowing and no very very seasonal thousand dollar piece of equipment to keep running.

Plus 2 on Cyclone Rake. Had one that MIL gave us when she got too old to do leaves. She had it for about 5 years and we put another 10 years on it and it was still working well. We replaced it last year with a bigger one to handle the large volume of leaves that we get every fall. Makes outstanding mulch. Run it behind our G5200 Kubota lawn tractor.
