What type of gun is this?

It also doesnt even have the BCG (bolt carrier group), so therefore no way to even fire if it WERE pinned to the lower. Just gun "parts" laid out to make people believe its an "evil assault rifle"

I have no issues with the bust at all. Thieves, crack heads, criminals.....they deserve punishment. I just dont like deceptive mis-representation of the situation. Thats all im sayin
I think we can only determine from the photos that it doesn't have a charging handle, BCG might be in there if we're really getting technical about it.

We can't play the this game any more. An AR is not a hunting long gun. Its a military weapon. At some point we have to figure this out. Why do people have these weapons. And Uhmmm.... its not because you have a re-accruing stampede of rodents. You want it because it is the last way to make sure there isn't a dictator in this country. Just admit that, and you own a military rifle because, you want to, and it is your right, to straight out own it. I hate this whole ARs are hunting rifles.. They are not, and were never designed to be hunting rifles. They are designed to kill people. We embrace that, or we do not. In my area, everyone has guns. The civil war would be over in 4 hours. And no one is going to ask the guy next to them if they were a democrat or a republican.
Well now, that's putting it bluntly. I think most are concerned about giving your post a "like"...

Look closer in the better resolution pic posted in post #13. No bolt. But you gotta know an AR and what to look for.

You can clearly see the bolt if you know what your looking at

Not to mention, in the seized gun, it doesn't even have the rear take down pin. Which is held in by a detent that requires the removal (or loosening) of the gas tube.

And as you mention, the charge handle.

All in all, too many missing parts to be a functioning firearm. So it's nothing more than gun parts, laid out on a table, to give the appearance of an "assault rifle". It's deceptive

I think too many of you are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. So what if the weapon was taken apart with the possibility that the criminals were studying how to make it fully automatic. And would it have been less deceptive if they had placed the parts a few inches away from each other. The photo is just to show you what they confiscated.

Again, I have no issue with justice being served. And that the seizure was warranted and a good thing. A few less thugs on the streets.

I just hate deception, especially when there is so much that goes on trying to push agendas around such a heated topic.

I still dont know what two guns they were "claiming: were modified to full auto.

And unless they fired them (doubtful), an average badge wearer doesnt know what to look for in terms of "modification". And the bolt that is missing on the one AR is a big piece of determining whether its full auto capable.

There are at least 3 different bolts available for an AR. One of them is impossible to convert without machining. A semi-auto bolt wont work even if the lower is converted with the full auto double seer. And a full auto bolt wont work with a link modification.

To the average person, these are just gun parts and nothing more.

So when an article is IMO intentionally deceptive, it looses credibility. IE: pushing an agenda rather than just doing their job and making arrests when warranted, and reporting the facts.

The phrase "trust but verify" come to mind. How many times do we see police reports redacted or modified because they made false claims? I have seen plenty. Just do your job and quit trying to make it seem as something its not.

The crims probably loaded videos of them shooting them full auto on YouTube. Lol. Theres so much we don't know about this, how can a person make an accusation?

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. I shot .22 competitively for 5 years in my youth. I have permanent hearing damage from it. I know the difference in sound levels to my ears, and there's a very noticeable difference.
There is a differnce with sub-sonic 22 long. What the article you have sited doesn't address is any sort of larger calibers, so you are correct there. And the study is after all, a company that sells suppressors. Go to 9 mill, and see if you can even first buy subsonic 9 mill, and even if you can, its still louder than what is presented in popular media. :)

They are legal and encouraged in Europe so shooter don't scare the neighbors. Seems like if they did nothing the restrictive governments over there would outlaw them in a heartbeat.
