I went through pipe thread misery earlier this year on some hydraulic fittings that just didn't match up with any of the standards known to me. I kept feeling like I couldn't use a thread gauge or micrometer properly. To save any of you similar misery, here is a helpful table that I found; (FWIW)

ISO	International Standards Organization
SAE	Society of Automotive Engineers
JIC	Joint Industrial Council
NFPA	National Fluid Power Association
BSP	British Standard Pipe
DIN	Deutsche Industrial Norme
JIS	Japanese Industrial Standard
BSPT	British Standard Pipe Tapered
BSPP	British Standard Pipe Parallel

Yanmars are build to JIS and metric too. Toss in the BSP and its confusing enough. LOL
