Electric vehicles during a disaster

What is the source for this info?

''The principal characteristic of U.S. hydroelectric plant ownership is the private sector (private utility and non-utility owners, cooperatives, and industrial owners) owns most of the 2,388 plants (69%), but the public sector (federal and non-federal public owners) owns most (73%) of the 74,872 MW of capacity. Private owners that are not utilities own 38% of the plants corresponding to only 4% of the total capacity, while private utilities own 31% of the plants corresponding to 24% of the total capacity. Seven federal agencies own the largest fraction of the total capacity (51%). Non-federal publicly-owned plants constitute 24% of the plant population corresponding to 22% of the total capacity.''

He's in Canada. Much different than the U.S.
I send the source above... did I miss understood of the meaning of ''the public sector (federal and non-federal public owners) owns most (73%) of the 74,872 MW of capacity'' ?

So 73 percent of US hydro is public owned but hydro is only about 6 percent of U S electricity. Canada has more but remember that companies like "Ontario Hydro" don't use hydro for most of their power. Canada has a very different approach to public/private ownership of power companies than the US.

According to the document you linked to:

In the U.S., less than 7% of power is generated from hydroelectric power.

(see page 2)

The federal government owns about 51% of hydroelectric power generation capacity (big dams, like the Grand Coulee) and non-federal public owns about 22% of capacity.

However, private industry owns about 66% of the nearly 2400 hydro facilities in the U.S.

The federal government and non-federal public only own about 1/3 of the hydro facilities in the U.S.

my bad I had a brain fart right there its been a long day ........ but if I understand correctly in the US the government own 63% of the utilities but the gris distribution is own by a corporation?

'' Of all utilities, 2,020 were publicly owned (including 10 Federal utilities), 932 were rural electric cooperatives, and 243 were investor-owned utilities. The electricity transmission network is controlled by Independent System Operators or Regional Transmission Organizations, which are not-for-profit organizations that are obliged to provide indiscriminate access to various suppliers in order to promote competition.''

No. Most electric companies are investor owned, not government owned.

No. Most electric companies are investor owned, not government owned.
And where do electric co-ops fall in that definition?
Like:
Tombigbee Electric Power Association (TEPA) is a non-profit, customer owned utility dedicated to providing electric service to residential, commercial, industrial, and public facilities.
Are they non-profit investor owned?
