Good Gloves?

I like a good pair of gloves, bit I've never had any that held up to more than a year or so of work (and I haven't used them much). I just went to the multi packs of combo cloth and rough leather. They don't work well for the dexterity, but the price is good for about the same use.

I may have to try the ones at Atwoods. One of the police officers I work with advised me to shop them and TSC for prices. Sometimes one is better than the other for the same thing. We have both within about 20 miles.

MCR sidekick 16010 leather gloves.
In bulk, online, $6-7 per pair. We used them at work for handling iron and cable. I bought a dozen for home use - about 4yrs ago, with a couple new "pairs" left, and a set in every barn, building and vehicle. Just about time to reorder.

I wear leather if I'm doing any work on my perimeter fence. Heavy leather ( Aerostich Elkskin Roper ) provide pretty good protection when working with barbed wire or heavy implements. Otherwise - insulated mitts.

I've been very lucky. Forty years and nothing has be smashed, crushed or broken.

Is Noonday Gun Shop still in business out there on 155 south of Tyler? They were the best place for good stuff I know of around E. Texas.
I've only been in there once, and that was 7 or 8 years ago to look for a Youth Model rifle for my wife. They only had one Ruger in stock and she didn't care for it. I thought it was overpriced compared to Academy and Atwood's, but we ended up driving to Cabelas and spending even more money for a Remington because that's what she really liked.

As wet as it typically around here I find myself using the rubberized on the palm and finger gloves. I have not found a long-lasting brand yet. I tried the Atlas brand mentioned (Seems to be the same as Bellingham brand) and they were decent.

Yeah I've gravitated toward these myself. Good grip and the insulated ones are pretty warm down to 20*.
They last a season doing 5-6 cords of wood.
When I was logging, I used the cotton chore gloves. They mitigated the saw vibration and were cooler to wear. As a logger, you rarely "handled wood" as much as simply cutting it.
Chokers and cables was the thing that wore them out.

Was it one of those little SA .22's? I love those things. Bought one for my grandson right after he was born. He doesn't have it yet or even know it is his but he will some day.

Not sure it the ones at Harbor Freight ware the same as you are talking about but the HF gloves like you describe, rubberized palm and fingers, are only about $2 a pair on sale and they are on sale frequently. I have some of them.

I have some winter weather gear (coats and mitts) that I have not used in 16+ years. Ok, I used the mitts a couple of times, but they are complete overkill here. I am just reluctant to part with them because of Murphy and his doggone law.

For those who want surprisingly warm mitts that can still 'work'? I had military issue winter gloves as a cadet. Wool inner gloves with a leather outer glove. Amazingly warm considering this was in Minnesota.

I hope to share in your good fortune. I believe most of 'lucky' is due to wisdom. However, I've had enough incidents in my life when I lacked wisdom and came out mostly unscathed that luck (I believe Divine providence) exists.

I've found if I wear heavy work gloves I'm always taking them on and off to do tedious work. So I switched over to fairly cheap lightweight mechanic type gloves. I buy them almost in bulk I always have a stack of them. When they get holes or too dirty I toss them.

I don't cut a lot of wood so usually don't need heavy gloves.

I weargloves about 50% of the time when working .
