TM1900 Caroni flail, which belts at what tension?

So I have a TM1900 Caroni flail, I've had it 6 or 7 years. Seems to go through a lot of belts! I've been using Gates B43 Hi-power ll belts and getting ready to install a new set..again. So my questions are, does everyone use this belt or do you use another, and what tension do you set it at? I have the manual which (kind of) tells you how to do it but nowhere in the manual does it say what the tension/deflection should be. Also, has anyone used a banded belt on this and do you like it and how does it hold up? THANKS

Are you buying matched sets of belts? Belt lengths vary slightly thus the matched sets. They are pre-measured at the factory and can be purchased in 2, 3 and 4 belt sets. Anytime you have a multi belt pulley system you should runs sets.

I have. You can buy matched sets of belts, I have for my commercial wood chipper. Motion Industries sells them.

Kind of surprised the drive don't have a tension idler like a motor vehicle has. My disc bine has one, keeps the drive belts tensioned properly all the time.

Yes it has an idler, but the tension on it is adjustable.

Leonz over in Flail Mower Nation thread should have your answer. Bunch of Caroni owners over there that should be able to give an answer as well. AgriSupply should have the belt sets & may have a manual for you as well, which should give you that spec.

People at Agri-Supply are great to deal with and will most likely give you the tension spec over the phone plus they have all the replacement parts too.
