Norwegian Brøyt excavators had rubber wheels on the rear axle, and spiked steel wheels on the front axle. When it was blast day in the quarry, you could just push the bucket down into the bed of the rock truck and drive it away from the blast zone. At the load site it would just push itself around with the boom.

Any they said “it couldn’t be done”, but it can. You can put the dipper stick and bucket in the dump truck bed. Even without a trailer!
