MTD grease for rear tang tiller transmission.

I'm doing a rebuild on it. I have it apart and there is a boat load of grease in the case. However. The shifting fork assembly was dry and one pin was worn and loose in fork, the other was worn off. I had lost tang operation, but still had forward and reverse. Any advice would be appreciated!

There is no cross reference for the MTD grease. It comes in 8 ounce tubes at around $20/tube and it takes 5 tubes. With that being said any good grease would probably work fine.

Tines, not tang but that is ok. Have the same tiller and if you take the top cover off, there will be a plastic push plug under it. I filled mine to the top with good quality chassis grease (same as I use on my tractors) and ran it a bit and checked (and topped it off) again. Cub Cadet grease is way over priced. Forget about it. To get the top cover off, you need to drive out the roll pin that holds the shift quadrant in place.
