Dell mouse kindly alerted me that it's battery was low. That's helpful.
Duracell OEM on battery and no date code but I've used that mouse for years, no complaints.
Alkaline Rayovac replacing it. Most major brand alkaline batteries are very good anymore. I buy what's cheapest of the top scorers.
But I sure did like Dennis's Duracells, with a 2034 date code. Nice fresh batteries.

made appt to get tires installed on rv next week, including rebalancing front tires with tpms sensors installed.
Giant chrome hubcabs, I doubt they were made perfectly round either. Doesn't it make sense, if they will, to balance
the tire with both sensor and hub cap on? The hub caps bolt on, not like they will fly off.

off to run some errands.

Just checked Costco's price, a gallon is $60. What is the difference?
$40.oo Canuck buck is worth $0.74 US dollars.
Artificial flavors and preservatives? Made in China? Forced child labor? I bet Bill knows...
RNG, txdon got pure Canadian Maple Syrup. Advertising and consumer laws in both the US and Canada forbid advertising 'Pure Canadian Maple Syrup' if it isn't pure. The brown sugar and water stuff is called 'table' syrup.
The 2023 gallon arrived and it IS dark and good. The diabetics here will cringe, but I poured an ounce into a clear glass and is sure is dark. The pouring it into the glass isn't what will make them cringe, but I drank it, that'll do it.
Got the oil bill, $1.912/Litre $7.227/US Gallon.
That oil will last me until December this year.
Last year I used 292 US gallons of furnace oil between the furnace and the tractor. 44 gallons went through the tractor.

Rack price on 'winter' furnace oil is $1.519/L, for this fill up, then there is the taxes on top of that. The local Shell station sells clear diesel for $1.719/L in the vehicle and out the door, but the local Shell station doesn't deliver to the house. Winter furnace oil is #2 diesel cut with kerosene.
If I had a pickup with a 200 gallon tank in back and a means of transferring the fuel to my house tank I would heat the house with on road diesel and save myself $0.47/L. $0.47 cents doesn't sound like much, but multiply that by 500L and it comes out to $235.oo/ fill up.

I know I am getting the shaft on heating oil, but I wont have propane on the property other than 20 lb bottles and natural gas is not available. Both propane and natural gas explode, fuel oil doesn't.

have a little battery story for you.
in the days before Circuit City came to town, and one had an electronics store in a small town,
in the 80's you went through a lot of batteries. All those walkmen, etc coming onto market, boom boxes,
lot of money spent on batteries.

One of my wholesalers had a Japanese brand of lead-zinc? that were a third of the cost of the American name brands.
And the fit and finish of the battery looked amazing, nicer than Duracells. They never leaked. Might not have lasted as long as an alkaline
but this was no extended warranty............

I had a little gimmick of giving away free batteries with the unit, if it took 4 or less AA's, because that was the size I could get large cases of,
and pennies a battery. But the free batteries looked so nice, and just getting something for free, always said quietly at the counter. I sure wasn't giving the guy
who needed 8 D batteries in his boombox free batteries. I made sure the rechargeable ones and chargers were prominently displayed.
I think now how many local batteries I sold are now polluting the Grows land fill down on the Delaware River. My old batteries leaching into the water supply,
and getting into the fish in the River. It would not be a good legacy... but we knew almost nothing about pollution then.
No battery recycling either. No awareness the stuff was potentially dangerous, from kids swallowing them to short circuits and fires, long before lithium batteries were made.
Those nickel cadmium ones had their own issues, and I really don't think cadmium is good for us.

now I recycle my batteries annually.

free batteries
folks left with a smile
which motivated them to come back
finite number of customers in small town, so need
them to come back for sure

Skip this post if you'd like, I just wanted to give an accurate update

Good Morning Everyone,

just wanted to check in, as the ongoing saga here continues ... prayers always appreciated, here's an update ... (sorry, tough to explain, I'm describing, not venting, I am so numb by this process, but I have not been angry.)

- wife's lawyer expects a response to an email sent
- I will do nothing until I have retained a lawyer (long story, last lawyer bailed on me on Thursday just befor Good Friday - as I attempted to set up an appointment, said that she was too busy), so after 6 months since initial contacts, I am back to square one - uggh).
- I just called a lawyer that was earlier recommended to me, left a message - I hope that I can arrange a retainer
- in the meantime, wife has been selling assets
- one of the tenants recently passed away (2 weeks ago), so there is a vacancy upstairs that wife and other tenant anticipate filling - with absolutely NO DISCUSSION with me. I don't want a complete stranger, barely screened, living on / in MY property, with access to everything here. (it's not as simple as locking doors ... the tractor, equipment, vehicles are all at some risk, and one vehicle (registered to me) was sold from under me, a month ago.
- I need a lawyer to draft a separation agreement so that I get the accounts separated, and secure the money for bills, while this whole process goes on.
- mediation is fine with me, but of no interest to wife
- reconciliation is not an option (she's said that all along - I agree)
- oh, and wife told her lawyer that the separation date was November 16/21 when she left town to assist her family ... rather than October 28/22 when I first learned about the separation via a friend responding on FB. That change in date CHANGES EVERYTHING.

It's a bit of a mess, wife clearly has no idea what the consequences of her actions are, she's just merrily cruising along without regard for anything that needs to be decided. I have lots of notes, to detail expenses etc.

stay well everyone :)

now back to taxes and bookkeeping

Took truck to town for emissions rip-off test.
Got some lo mein on the way.
Then Costco run. Almost $700 for a cart full, but used both rebates to knock it down. Did pick up the Dyson v11 vacuum on sale for $500 .
Filled with gas while there.
Truck needs washed, really dirty. I’ve never tried to take it thru a auto spray wash because of the bed cover. Thinking about a foam cannon to use on pressure washer.
Nice breeze on the porch. Bees are buzzing around. Gotta find the wasp nest, I see a bunch.

Getting the hydraulic couplers connected to the tractor can sometimes take effort and time. Sometimes I had to bleed the fitting to take the pressure off. Bought this tool to save some effort in the process and it has helped greatly to connect with minimal efforts. If was disconnected cold and sits in the sun it likely will not be able to connect but in other cases it is very helpful
