@Rockbadchild, there is only one real choice here. Texas!

It will be hot in July. Wear light comfortable clothes and shoes, sunscreen is highly recommended.

I recommend checking out South Padre Island and Space X. SpaceX.com and Flights to Harlingen/South Padre Island | Southwest Airlines®

From there grab a flight to San Antonio. Stat at a historical hotel on the a RiverWalk or close by like the St. Anthony or the Menger. Enjoy the Riverwalk, the Alamo, Downtown San Antonio is full of history. The Alamo

Rent a car in San Antonio and drive to Welcome To Fredericksburg, TX | Texas Hill Country. You will travel through some beautiful Texas Hill Country and meet some very nice people. Be sure and stop wherever you feel like it and if you are up to a nice hike make arrangements to “climb“ - basically walk up Enchanted Rock just north of Fredericksburg. Enchanted Rock State Natural Area — Texas Parks & Wildlife Department

If any of this sounds to your liking I can fill in any details or offer a lot of other suggestion.

Other options in Texas: DFW - tour the stadium where the Dallas cowboys play. Tours

In Ft. Worth visit the Texas Ranching Heritage Center. Check TSCRA.org. They don’t show any Ranch Gatherings in July but you might email and ask. It’s a real slice of true Texas life that you will experience at one of these. They will welcome you and make you feel at home. Here is some information on a Gathering to give you an idea. Western Heritage Classic Ranch Gathering

We have the Texas Capitol in Austin, the French Legation is nearby . French Legation State Historic Site | THC.Texas.gov - Texas Historical Commission

Texas is a huge State and is truly unique and there are so many things to do and see. Let me know if you have any questions.
All of those locations are really nice places. Can’t go wrong there.

Ironically, when I lived in NY, I was only a short drive from the Canadian border and never needed a passport back then.
I havent been to the states since they started requiring a passport, as a kid my folks routinely took us to the Plattsburgh NY municipal beach on lake Champlain or shopping in Burlington VT whenever the CDN $ spiked near or over par, it was only a short drive.

Want to stay out of the hot? Gatlinburg TN the surrounding area and the Great Smokey mountains national park... Lots of history to check out and nice weather up in the mountains when it's blistering hot elsewhere..

What's not more American than Dollywood lol, lots of interesting things to see and do in the smoky mountains besides Dollywood. Memorable when I toured the area 8 yrs ago hopefully going back eventually.

There is no place better than Texas but outside Texas I’d recommend considering: Santa Monica/ Catalina Island. Tacoma/Steilacoom/Bremerton Washington area. Would have included Seattle at one time but probably avoid that now.

Chattanooga, Tenn., Natchez Trace Parkway and from Vicksburg to Port Gibson , Mississippi. Natchez Trace Parkway (U.S. National Park Service)

Even Gen. Grant said Port Gibson was to beautiful to burn and did not destroy the town like most others at the time.

Nashville, Tenn is packed with history and interesting places. I recommend staying outside Nashville proper in Franklin or even Columbia. Very friendly people and nice area away from the city but within an easy drive.

Be sure to visit the Parthenon in Nashville and the Hermitage ( Andrew Jackson's Hermitage | Visit in Nashville, TN )east of Nashville.

Highly recommend Merridee's Breadbasket Bakery & Restaurant in Franklin, TNMerridee's in Franklin.
James K. Polk residence is in Columbia President James K. Polk Home and Museum - Columbia, TN

The best trip I’ve taken is to fly to Calgary, then, drive through the Rocky Mountains to Vancouver, and across to Victoria. You can take a different route back to Calgary, and then fly home.

What are we thinking!? This is a tractor site. The recommendations should be to tour all of the best dealerships on the US. (or at least the most 'famous').

Just to start the list in no particular order:
LSE (2 stores in Nashville area)
Messicks (Elizabeth town, PA)

Who has more suggestions?

No, not mine. I loved making a living as a photographer but the money was in photographing portraits and weddings. I was still blessed to make a living doing what I loved.
You were blessed.

One of favorites from Mr. Till. Most of the pictures he has taken I've been to the location where the picture was taken, and I could never come close to his ability (I'll blame it on the lower end Nikon SLR camera). There were are a lot of "pucker power" hikes to some spots for an East Coast kid LOL

My first trip to Utah I hit the Grand Canyon coming back from Utah up through Page Arizona. After seeing all the people there, I never went back until I took my future wife and dad because they wanted to go because we were "in the area".
