After working on cars and even on some rolling through our yard and there to apply brakes. I have much respect for them and not get in there way. They don't stop quick.

Both? The rail unions are complaining to the press that running longer trains with reduced staff is causing this. They may be right.

I tend to agree with that. Even with all the automated detection equipment on the sides of the tracks, checking as trains go by, if no one is around to actually do something about it, it ends badly.

I read something about train safety but don't ask me where. They said these larger RR company's are cutting corners to improve profits AND our federal govewmnent has reduced safety regulations.

I've heard similar stories from my brother in-law that is a heavy equipment operator.

Here, and probably everywhere in the US, the state or local highway department can't do anything if a RR crossing is rough. Nothing will be done before the RR gets around to it with their own forces.
