The Ford Truck forum I'm on is a mess, just an absolute mess. Folks upset that trucks cost double what they did a decade ago, they complain, and then the folks that get off on paying too much move in and talk about how if those people worked harder they could afford it.
Watching a retired 70 year old with a $100k F450 lecture a 30 year old contractor about money is absolutely grotesque; the world isn't the same, our money isn't the same as it was. The post-9/11 world has been a shitshow that's become progressively worse.
And it just keeps getting worse for small businesses. Although many people “walked away” and started their own businesses because of Covid, small business success is much harder to achieve in the US than it ever was.
My business insurance has DOUBLED in the last 3 years. I asked my agent why. He said inflation has caused replacement values to go so high, that insurance companies are covering themselves for their potential losses.
I bid my last few jobs extra high to compensate for my new extra expenses. Most Customers can’t believe these new prices. I tell them “you wouldn’t believe my expenses”.
