JD 4600
Hi All,
I just picked up a JD 4600 at auction and I am excited. A friend has a JD 48 backhoe that I can buy cheaply. It is coming off a JD 4310. Does the 4310 and the 4600 use the same side mount brackets? If not, does anyone have a part number for the 4600 mounting brackets? I have been trying to look at the JD parts diagrams but can't figure it out. Also I would like to use new bolts to mount the brackets. I have read that people have bought the bolts from JD. Are they special? Or would any grade 8 bolt work? The 4600 has a set of rear remotes. Can that be used for the 48 or do I have to buy the Power beyond kit?

Last question: I am also looking for a JD 460 loader for the 4600. Problem is they aren't made anymore and I can't find a used one. Are there any other loader recommendations that will mount easily to a 4600?

Thank you!

I purchased a 48BH for my JD 4500. It had the subframe with it that connects under loader brackets of a JD 5205. I could not located the correct mounting brackets either.
I decided to use the subframe because it was a better way to mount. A Woods 9000 has a similar subframe. I purchased the mounting brackets for the Woods subframe then I had to modify the JD subframe some.
The rear mount on the JD is a smaller diameter rod than the Woods. Instead of replacing the rod I found some DOM tubing with correct id/od and cut it lengthwise wrapped it over existing rod and welded it back together.
It came with the front mount for the JD 5205 but I had to cut part of it off to bolt it to the Woods mounts.
Now the frame was to short. The JD subframe is c channel that is boxed almost end. I extended the subframe using same size c channel. I extended the boxing on the inside and used oversized fish plated on the outside.
I can take it on or off in 15 minutes. Tractor is very stable/solid feeling while using backhoe. The mount does take up alot of ground clearance but it has not been a problem yet. I will get some pics today.

Wow, sounds great! Thanks for the reply! That is a bit more than I can do myself. I am a terrible welder. Lol
