"Dug an ear of corn out of the fridge and microwaved it in the husk"

There are people around here who take sweet corn seriously. They would recommend you go out to the field and pick your corn. Then run as fast as you can to a pot of boiling water. There is some disagreement about how long to cook it. Something between passing the ears through the steam to a couple of minutes in boiling water although you can find people who like to eat corn raw. We have a while to wait for corn but the farm stand is open should see strawberries any day now.

Good morning! Low of 40°, heading towards 68°. Good chances for another round of showers / T-storms. Got 1/8" in the gauge yesterday. Broke the 48 day dry spell.

The extended forecast shows isolated showers for today and tomorrow, then widespread rain and storms from Wednesday through the weekend. Hope it happens.

Most of the planter frames are assembled, need to add the metal. Plan is to get them completed today. Not sure if they will get filled, because of the rain. I don't want to tear everything up with the tractor....

Weeds are now growing at an accelerated pace.... need to get the weedwacker prepped....

Still have that 28T of gravel to get spread.....

The courtyard walkway project is still on the list....

More fencing is waiting to get done....

I can see a battle with Mr. Knee is on the horizon.... Just over a month now until my "second opinion" is scheduled. I am really hoping to find out what's wrong .....

Have a grat start to the week!

63°F and .75 inches rain.

Still have my pw to do. Depends how miserable the rain. Not that I can’t find enough inside stuff that needs attention.

In town Happy Hour this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I am on the website, never got the app (hearing all the problems BEF has with it, I don’t want it). I didnt know you could change number of posts viewed? I am stuck on the default, which I guess is 10per?

I love the app. It’s the best way to view TBN. My only complaints was when TBN changed things causing issues with the app. They fixed it. However, the app is no longer in the App Store. There is also the tapatalk app, which I now use as a backup.

70F and sunny @ 13:00, heading up to around 77F for the day's high. Promises to be a beautiful day ... (y)

Dug out chain saw first thing yesterday, then fueled and oiled it, and tightened up the chain on the bar. Fired right up.

Then headed over to where the fallen ash tree was over on the west side of the house and cut up the section that had fallen across the path (left section) onto our property:

IMG_2586 copy.jpg

I was thinking that the wood would be punky and junk but it wasn't. Should make for some decent firewood for this coming winter ... just need to remove the poison ivy vines off of it:

IMG_2588 copy.jpg

After that I rounded up most all of the chains and hauled them over to the west side of the house.

Was hoping that there was enough length to hook up on one of the broken off trees and and then pull it down:

IMG_2585 copy.jpg

Had enough length ... but there was just way too much weight on the end to get it to move (it's the tree in the center of the picture below):

IMG_2587 copy.jpg

So I headed off in search of other tasks.

Got grapple removed from shop and parked it over in the second circle.

While I was doing that The Woman headed over to the northwest hosta/rhododendron planting bed and started weeding the thistle out of that. Says She got about half done ... (y)

I decided to pull the nails out of some old PT 2 x 12's and 2 x 8's so I swapped out the bucket for the pallet forks and brought those down from shop and put them on the saw horses.

Observed House Wren exiting from Nest Box No. 2 ... (y)

After I had all the nails pulled I put them on the south and east edge of the garden to serve as a little weed/erosion control.

Once that was done I gathered all the weeds The Woman had pulled and took those up to the compost pile.

Then I started mowing down here around the house and got most of the back and some of the sides done.

Finished off the ribs for dinner.

Moved Light Material bucket into the shop for wing welding, closed the overhead door, and started a fire in the stove. Brought Kubota back down to the house.

Ran up on the Cub and checked mealworm feeder, was 3 or 4 worms left.

Headed over to the shop and got the wings welded on the Light Material Bucket to finish the day:

Woman currently around back working on weeding.

Plants are "Out For Delivery" via USPS ... so likely some work there.

Refill hopper feeder and likely mealworm feeder as well.

Otherwise probably back to mowing for me ... after a trip down to the corner for fuel ... ;)

Hope everyone is having a great Monday ... (y)

Went outside early to do something for the wife, and ended up doing a bunch of stuff.
Took all the sprouts off the potatoes, then took BX deck off, sharpened blades, and had heck of time getting deck back on. Hardest is the pto underneath .
Finally tried the mower, cut well in the lawn. Then took it out along field. Then saw the tree cutter tool parked over the hill. Big saw blade on a boom.

IMG_9244.JPG

Decided to mow across the creek. Lots of sticks. Mower deck got noisy, something wrong. Brought it back to barn, blades didn’t get tight enough and had loosened up.
On way back snagglepuss had a squirrel, it was injured but still moving.
Ate 2 sandwiches, now going on 2 pm already and a lot to get done.

Ron- I have never seen a grackle colored as yours. Thanks for sharing.

RNG- Thanks for sharing your pictures

Fritz- This is one impressive project to take on singlehandedly.

Ted- I am sorry to read that Mr. Knee is acting up again, and good luck with the second opinion.

rswyan- I see that you have good supply of wood waiting to be cut.

It was another high level clouds and smoke haze morning with 44ºF as this morning’s low temperature. There has been a pleasant breeze most of today so far with 14mph gusts recorded. The black flies were not a problem thanks to the breeze.

I ended up draining the gas tank and replacing the fuel filter this morning and the rider is up and running again. Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ll probably be doing something similar with the string trimmer later this week.
