Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #170,541
60F and "Fair" @ 21:30, heading down to 49F in the overnight.

Was an absolutely beautiful day here today, high hit 77F.

Started off with taking the Cub and dump cart full of weeds The Woman had pulled up to the compost pile.

Once that was done loaded up all plants and moved those around back. Woman helped load and unload.

Then moved full Water Buffalo up to northwest of the house so it would be in the shade.

After that I took the Cub and dump cart back up to the front of the house and got the Kubota and went up and got a bucket of screened compost and brought down.

Eventually put about half the bucket in the dump cart and mixed peat moss into it, then took it around back. This is for The Woman's Dahlia's ... ;)

After that I ran down to HFT to get sprayer. Decided to get the larger 2 gallon sprayer as it was only a couple $ more.

Stopped and got 5 gallons of diesel for the Kubota and 3 1/2 gallons of gas for the Cub. Refueled both when I got back.

Was going to stop by DG on way back and grab a mesh strainer but I forgot.

Squash and pumpkin seeds from Eden Brothers were in the mail box when I checked it on the way back in.

Noticed Rib Man was back again on way out and informed Woman when I got home. She didn't have any plans for dinner so She was game and headed out to get a slab. Had a couple of those and Her macaroni salad for dinner.

Amazon had dropped off exhaust adapters. Will be heading up to the shop in a few to check out how those fit on the HF weed burner torch.

While She was out getting the ribs I started mowing the front yard, was over half done by the time She got back. She brought back iced Butter Pecan coffees from Dunkin' ...;)

Finished the front up before I came inside for dinner:

IMG_2616 copy.jpg

After dinner I emptied the screened compost out of the bucket which was half full into a tote and around a peach tree and one shrub.

Then I headed up with the Kubota and screened some more compost, probably got another 8 - 10 buckets of screened material added to the pile.

Pic from earlier in the day:

IMG_2615 copy.jpg

Came back down to the house as I realized I hadn't put out any mealworms for the bluebirds.

After filling the feeder with 15 mealworms I checked the nest box and there was only one bluebird in it ... so I assume the other four fledged:

IMG_2617 copy.jpg

I first discovered the eggs on April 29th. Today was the 16th day since I discovered the eggs had hatched and took a picture (back on May 5th)

Typical time to fledge after hatching is 16 - 22 days.

After that I decided to head back down to Dollar General and see about that mesh strainer. Checked their website before I headed off and it showed that they were out of the 6" strainer I was wanting. Got there and they had it in stock ... (y)

Visited some with neighbor who was out walking her dogs when I got back. Her son - the one who had his femur removed - is doing very well. He's home and actually walking around with a walker. Pretty amazing.

Once she left I finished up some weed walking The Woman had started and started putting things away.

Last thing I did before closing the garage door was mix up a bucket of screened compost and peat moss so I can get some of those squash and pumpkin seeds planted later tonight.

Overall a reasonably productive day.

Hope everyone had a good day ... (y)

Drinking first cup of coffee. 43° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 77° with sun and a few clouds. Did maintainace on Garden Pond yesterday. Then did started straightening out garden retaining wall. Did the one where I hit with snow plow. Then found a couple more places that need some straightening. Put them on to do list. Was going to help neighbor move mulch. But their barn lean-to is being attacked by Carpenter Bees. So I made 4 Carpenter Bee traps. Then mounted them. It was a long day. Going to try for a conserve energy day today.
Early Morning visitor.

   / Good morning!!!! #170,548
am I getting slow or is this site going faster? every time I turn around I'm 5 pages back.
I find this 5am time with my coffee to be a good time to catch up.

David, your place really is a gorgeous spot in Paradise.
that pool is big enough for a small electric boat
And you built it all yourself.

RS, very cool you get to see baby birds hatch.
yellow field flowers lovely, but looking at them makes my nose itch
I have to take an antihistamine each morning all summer.

I'm glad that Frits and Buckeye live in such a beautiful area.
So many old farms
So many cool barns
so many tractors resting in sheds away from our prying eyes.

am also glad Ron is so good with his camera. Am looking forward to seeing his birds
Am spending two nights plugged in to Ron's home, on the way up to Cedarville MI and on the way back.
reminds me I need to find some sparklers.

spent many years as MC of fireworks show on the farm in New Hope.
many wonderful memories, including setting the field on fire and the misguided rocket that shot straight at my sister
and only because my father flattened her seeing what was happening did the burning rocket land in lawn just past pool deck.
Unfortunately pool deck was very unforgiving scratch concrete and my sister came up none too happy.
But July 4th was my mother's birthday so we always had a great party and shot off fireworks.
then it got so dry for awhile the fireworks were suspended. I think one year we had the tac truck, the mini pumper,
with 250 gal water, sit off to the side, when I was in the fire company.

one of the first things I did when I joined the local fire company was to
trim all the trees near our long farm lane. Lot of overhanging branches in spots.
Had to make sure big pumper or tanker could get in without scratching the trucks.
considered most inconsiderate to scratch their beloved trucks, and if a working fire,
they'll take the scratch and keep responding. Instead of getting out and trimming the tree.
We kept a pair of loppers on most larger trucks. Lot of country lanes.
but why this area is so pretty.
I've done NC and Florida flat, much rather live in the hills.

I hope Riptides is doing fine in his project.
sometimes you have to really focus on just one thing.

out very early to 8am dealer appt for state inspection. will take Kindle, maybe look at Volvo plug ins, see what's new.
the hybrid version of my car has something like 450hp, whooeee. 316 has been doing just fine, though sounding
agricultural doing so. I wonder if the hybrid has a different driving feel.
with my bad neck, not like I want jackrabbit starts any more.
but I do want more than 22mpg.
don't want to give up my super comfortable seats.
and maybe, just maybe, the new plug in ones will have massage in them.
I have to wait until they are three years old usually and a third off.

Good Morning.
It was 47 when I went outside with Zoe this morning. High in the 70’s expected. I’ll almost certainly experience the 80’s or more, as I’m of to the Bahamas and south Florida today.

Yesterday was productive, made progress on the little plane, made a mess in the shop repairing chisel plow for neighbor, and cleaned it up.

IMG_1882.jpg

Will be interesting to see how it holds up. I had some help, here he is at the sink after washing up.

IMG_1883.jpg

We got his grandmother’s car unloaded from the farmers market, made a large bowl of chicken salad, checked on my preparations for todays trip and called it a day.

Today will be spent looking out or windshield or playing the video game in front of me. Should be home in time to take Zoe to school this evening. Got to get going now.

Good morning! A Cool 58˚F with partly cloudy skies and northerly winds turning easterly and warming up to the mid 80s.

Cloudy skies and a few drops of rain kept the crowds down at the "Farm" this weekend. The only special activity was picking 40 varieties of flowers which were in full bloom.

I held my first tractor training session and my one student passed. It works best with 6 drivers and we were down to four.

Next week the peach orchards will open up for the first picking and the "Farm" will be serving BBQ for the Memorial Day weekend. If there is no rain I expect larger crowds. The trailers need work one tire came off one and on the other one the canopy was ripped by the wind and was taken off.

Relatives heading out tomorrow morning, good trip to brunch yesterday, hung out for a couple hours with them at mom’s. Going to do some local activities with the, today, and dinner at local BBQ.

as to engine “locking up”: is it a cooling issue? Is it a parts breakage issue? Is it some other issue? Too many projects to worry about it right now, but I would not mind having that in the arsenal. Also found out that the backhoe that is in the far-side tree line (completely engulfed in vines) is also a Case machine but no model/year info available… baby steps…

Good morning, the low temp is 36 and the high to 66°F. Wind variable and light. Zero % chance of precipitation. Another good day for pulling/digging stumps.
I'll go over at about 11, I would rather be there now, but the nearest neighbour is 200' away. Also the hired help (my stepson) doesn't like to start work early, even though all he has to do is run the electric chainsaw and move the tractor.

He has a kittie babysitting job (feeding) for the next 3 days on top of the stump removal job. It is a good thing they are both at the same address.

That is my day mapped out.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

58.3F, going to mid-70s, mostly cloudy forecast.

yesterday got higher than expected, into mid-80e, and then an unexpected shower hit as we were lounging on the deck. It lasted for almost an hour, so the nice evening ended up being spent indoors.

Planted the dig tree up at the woodlot, didn’t do any other work yesterday. Spent most of the day with relatives.

today is morning chiro visit, then more time with relatives. I would like to take them up to the woodlot for a tour but my uncle is now mobility-limited and permanently on O2 due to complications from something that discussing here would get me thrown in TBN Timeout.

Tuesday they head off to their daughter’s for grandson’s HS graduation this weekend, and hopefully they have good weather for traveling.

Another cuppa is calling to me…

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe productive blessed day!

Mostly, I think the magnetic sludge deposit is normal. The oil that drained out look like new Kubota UDT oil. No different than the new oil. Good thing the mag plug was there to catch it and prevent it from floating around the transmission. It is not a filter just a mag plug to catch anything metallic. Did not see any visible particles

That welding repair looks good, good penetration. Was it stick welding or wire welding and how high was the heat setting?

Morning all, 55 going up to 79 and sunny.
Off to Dr. this morning for annual physical.
Talk about tools, picked up a 24" breaker bar, for when the impact wrench is struggling.
Brakes held up and problem seems solved.
Dog was dancing when I gave her the chicken and rice for breakfast this morning.

Sodamo, that's a lot of powerwashing, your place has so many great views and seems every angle looks amazing.

Popg-your help for everyone is great and the grandson is certainly getting taller, it's great he likes getting involved.

Drew - hearing your stories in person and online is a treasure, Family fun with fireworks and plenty of duck and cover moments.

Back to the day job,
Be well

Good Morning!!!! 66F @ 4:15AM. Sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High near 95F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Never throw anything away, right Frits?

No such thing as too many tools. The problem is finding the right one when you need it.

Finished mowing the upper meadow, and worked through the part with the most trees, too. Pretty slow going, but glad there were no pucker moments. Today I'll start on the back yard, unless the stucco guys show up again. If they do, I'll run the string trimmer up along the driveway. Not sure what else I'll get into, but might not be more than an afternoon siesta.

Almost noon yesterday and noticed a little engine shaped icon lit on the tractor dash. Looked it up and it had something to do with emissions, and the engine running too hot. The temp gauge looked fine, but when I checked the radiator screen it was pretty well plugged with weed seeds. And the air filter needed cleaning as well. Lubed the FEL while I was at it. Seems like ten hours of operation doesn't last as long as it used to.

Hope everyone's work week gets off to a good start.

I was always trying to get our sons involved in the shop and repair activities but no such luck. A couple of the girls were much more involved in repairs and taking care of the goats doing milking feeding and clean up. Our granddaughter when she stayed with us I took everywhere and got her involved at an early age.
