Good morning!!!!

Good morning! Low of 44°, heading up to around 78°. Partly sunny, 40% chance of a shower. Haven't got a drop out of the sky since last Friday.... so much for percentages.....

Yesterday was a 'recovery' day.... after driving almost 200 miles back and forth for 2 pallets of mulch on Tuesday. And the unloading process.... the tractor will only lift a half pallet (using the bolt on pallet forks, which puts the load way out front of the bucket)(essentially cutting the lift capacity in half). So, hand unloading 30 bags off of each before being able to lift the pallet. Got a good workout for sure!

But, yesterday was still successful.... Max got his summer cut at the groomers, a small grocery run completed, bird feeders refilled, stop at the bank and PO, then a short afternoon nap..... all good!

Today's agenda is to unload the third pallet of mulch, then heading back today for a fourth one. Wifey said: "Well, the prices will only go up, and the sale only happens once a year, get some extra."

Dennis, I saw the bulk mulch prices you posted.... I wish the prices out here were that good....
The lowest bulk price here is $48/yard for double shred. The highest price (from the most reputable place) is $65/yard.
A pallet of bagged is 130 CF or 4.8 yards. A pallet is costing $130, about $27/yard.

I have contemplated buying a chipper for the tractor, then running the "free" mulch from the transfer station through it to improve the quality. But, (there's always a 'but'), I could buy 6-8 years worth of mulch for the cost of the chipper..... then there's the work of putting yards and yards of mulch through the chipper....
mmmmm --- think the bags are easier.....

Need to get moving.
Everyone have a great day!

30 bags of mulch Ted and they are all attached to your knee.
be careful. Hoping you do not wake up tomorrow
with a knee of new proportions.
but then what to do when docs do not provide successful guidance.

so your TBN doc of zero merit hopes you wear a brace or whatever.
you have medical training, you know better. Pretty hard to fix yourself isn't it?...

if you look North of where I am at in this map you will see a place along the Delaware River called Ringing Rocks. While I always thought the name was interesting, I most associated with the Ringing Rocks fire/rescue squad that had a specialized mountain/cliff climbing crew.
Almost always to rescue someone who fell. I listened to their calls on home scanner for more than ten years.

the interesting point of Ringing Rocks is the name

that would be a good day trip with a kid, take a couple of hammers and go bang on some rocks. One out of three will ring in a special way

street view of google maps is super helpful
I think I found the ringing rocks, what a field of them

LS, where did you get the mulch? wife wants me to run into Lowes and get the 1.5cf scotts mulch 5 for $10 on sale.

I'm also shopping Flail mowers for Dad to use, at least 73" one.

65°F and .45 inches rain.

Get started on my last 2 walls today, but I don’t anticipate getting them finished. This is the active space between the living room and garage boxes. 2 walls 8 ft apart fully covered by the overlapping roofs. A natural catch all for all sorts of things that will have to be relocated first. Actually a pretty tight area to be wielding a pw wand. I expect a lot of blow back. Both walls are gable ends so 2x10 support Timbers.

Didn’t make it to PO before it closed, so still on my list.

We host H&F this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

often in your face.

hi honey, what were you working on?
oh, I can see.

finished waxing rv with a spray Meguiars wax that went on super easy and almost self polished. But I went over with a fluffy microfiber anyway. Have to complete the wax on wax off to maintain my zen state. It was just nice to be outside, until the weedeaters came back.

took the golf cart up to where the pump out is, got familiarized with that so I can get in and out tomorrow. It was only ten bucks for the honey dipper to do it today but it's tomorrow morning before I come home I need it. I don't care what the gauge says, not full.
proverbial famous last words

might watch a movie later, have one more dvd I haven't watched yet.
with no one around me, can turn up the sound a little

I think LS said it was Home Depot where he got the mulch. HD has it on sale here.

Dennis- Thanks for sharing your project(s).

RonJH- Nice picture.

Mark- Thanks.

Fritz- My + thoughts and prayers for your Wife and you as well.

Ken- Nice pictures and I am sorry to read about your dog. I hope the vet can figure out what is wrong with your dog.

It was a "clear" and breezy morning with 40ºF as the morning's low temperature. It has been a mix of clear skies and lightly filtered sunshine with some daytime cumulus clouds floating by. 59ºF is the current daytime temperature with 19mph gusts recorded. I was very, very lucky to capture these Sandhill Cranes this afternoon. I first saw them with the dog along. I returned home dropped off the dog, got the big lens out and returned to where they were first seen around here 5 years ago.

Sunny and a cool 63F @ 13:30, might make it up 66F for the high. Tomorrow is supposed to be a little nicer ... with temps back up in the mid-70's.

Coffee tasting very good.

Eyes particularly full of goo this morning ... probably as a consequence of all the dust and debris I ate and wallowed in cleaning the mower deck yesterday.

Did make it up to the shop last night and got the modification done on the driver bit.

Old bit I had made up for driving ground rods:

IMG_2634 copy.jpg

Bit after modification for driving t-posts, used a small pipe drop I had and the drop from drilling some 1/2" plate with a hole saw :

IMG_2635 copy.jpg

Did not get much of anything else done up there.

Have a task up there that I need to get done by this evening though, so I'll be heading up there in a little bit.

Not sure what else I'll get into today.

Hope everyone is having a good Thursday ... (y)

Picked up 10 bags of mulch at Lowe’s 5 for $10 sale (1.5 cf) after lunch at Panera.
Saw Advantech up high in a bundle but none down low to buy.
Got mulch on a pallet to move around.
Had hummingbird fly right up in front of me, but left before I could get camera opened.
Warm in sun, but nice cool breeze sitting on the porch.
Wife opened door to shed to put air in her wheelbarrow tire, but the old husqvarna is in the way. And when I said look out for the snake, she decided not to go in. I also said, we have a ranger and the BX bucket, why not use one of them?

I think I jinxed myself. On the 25th of the month I must have run out of my allowance on Verizon Mifi. Unlimited the plan says.
But after xyz your speed will drop.
that has been an Achilles heel of Verizon from the beginning.
and no buy back for true unlimited.
so basically back to text now.

campground wifi so faint it would hardly register. Pretty hard to get decent wifi in the woods.

starlink is starting to look pretty good. But that doesn't work in the woods either right? but I'm thinking if I were to plan a long trip West, having a communications package that doesn't crap out and dumb down so much almost impossible to send basic pics without timing out.

if I were staying here longer, I would hook up to campground cable tv. That seems to have been run to most sites. Infrastructure here a bit primitive. There are campgrounds and then there are resorts.
I almost repositioned the rv but resolved why bother, outside is mostly shade. To optimize water hookup and electricity, put me in spot I was a little too fat for. So....like usual, I sucked it in.
The awning that is.
couldn't go over any further, they need to trim that one tree

Productive day at the woodlot. After fighting with that other stump the other day, I attacked the pine stump based I what I learned, and got it out in about 30 minutes. It was even bigger than the other one. Got a couple of smaller stumps out and pushed over two trees about 10” dia. So they need a little visit from Mr Chainsaw, but the stumps are already mostly out of the ground.

Mrs. Ised up all 5 batteries I charged up for the weed eater. The place is looking civilized again. I need to buy a spool of trimmer line for it.

i also cut a short trail that runs from the area I just cleared up to the path that parallels the road.

the place is a little more open than it was!

the stumps are stacking up!

i used to tell the Scouts in our troop:

“God gave you two ears and one mouth, so you should listen twice as much as you talk.”

I also told that to my sister-in-law once. . . Hilarity ensued…
