The ford Festivas were not that great either, but I have one and love it. I also ride motorcycle, the crash stuff is not that important to me. i drive the cars, just like I drive the motorcycles. :)
I hear ya, but when riding my bike am very vigilant at paying attention to everyone else. Those Festiva's did get really good mileage as well.

They also have 52 cubic feet in the back if you take the back seat out. And I just today tested my '93, for zero to sixty. 15 seconds. 1.3 fuel injected. Motor has 250,000 miles. Many people may laugh, but its still only 15 seconds, and it gets 36 MPG as an automatic three speed. I pay less then $500 a year in insurance. And I never have to worry about someone stealing it or even breaking into it. Cause what in a owner's Festiva could a thief possibly find worth stealing. Even the Cat Converter isn't worth it.

There is appropriate use. I've seen the change over in Europe from ICE Buses to Electric in the last 10 years. In this role, they work perfectly. And they work because maintenance is less, they have more room, the routes are FIXED, there are chargers at both ends of the route and electricity in this use, is less expensive for the company then diesel. So the fares are also cheaper. They also are on much shorter routes than any thing in the USA. A modern bus station in Europe is a thing to behold. It's hard to remember just how loud and exhaust stinky, these places use to be. Especially in covered downtown, garage type stations. Electric buses are also so linear in acceleration, you hardly know you are moving. It might also be because these are all relatively new buses, nearly all of them made in China, with all modern amenities, like Wifi and charging ports. Electric buses are now our "Go To," when traveling in Europe.
We had all electric street cars and buses in the city of Philadelphia and even some surrounding boroughs and they tore most of them out! lol
Everyone acts like electric buses are this new amazing thing, but they were once very popular 50+ years ago.
That being said, IMO EV’s should be utilized heavily in cities, were noise and pollution is concentrated, so residents can live healthier lives.
Once outside the cities, ICE vehicles, especially heavy trucks are the ticket. They can travel further distances with heavier loads and that’s where they are better.
Forget heavy electric trucks on highways or rural routes. The technology isn’t there yet.

Once Government goes all in on something, facts and reality don't matter. Just look at all the damage they caused by forcing the "vaccine" on everyone. In my opinion, Electric Vehicles are the future, and it's just a matter of time until the Government makes it too expensive, or impossible to find parts to keep gas and diesel vehicles running. There are threads on here about 20 year old tractors that you cannot find parts for anymore because they are not Tier4.

My plan is to wait as long as possible, but realize that it's gonna happen. I'm building a new 3 car garage onto my house and I'm going to run the wire for charging Electric Vehicles in it. I might be wasting money, but wire isn't going to get any cheaper, and having it in place now, before sheetrock is installed, seems like a good idea.

One thing that I really like is that the Ford Lightning has a huge lockable storage area under the hood, where the engine is normally located. As a contractor, I think this would be great. I can keep my tools locked up under the hood, and haul material in the bed of the truck. Since I usually work within 30 minutes of where I live, I would have plenty of charge for a full day, and never have to deal with a gas station again. Price to buy one is my biggest issue since I don't know how long the batteries will last, and what happens when the batteries need to be replaced. For now, I'm just gonna wait and see what happens.

I have a friend that works for the electric coop in my area. He told me the current electric grid will not support a large number of cars charging up at the same time. He said if a large number of cars in some of the housing subdivisions were to all plug up to charge in the evening, the grid would go down in that area.

they already have that figure out … small nuclear reactor that extract separate it off the air

Being able to do it is not the same as being practical to do. There is a big difference between theoretical or experimental capabilty and being commercially viable.

In the 1960s electricity from nuclear generation was going to be “to cheap to meter.”

Like Eddie said above, "Once Government goes all in on something, facts and reality don't matter. Just look at all the damage they caused by forcing the "vaccine" on everyone."

The fact is there would be brown outs or black outs right now if 15% of the vehicles on the road were charged from the grid at the same time.

It's kind of wait and and see what the "forced" damage will be when there is an all electric fleet on the road.

From the research I've read, fuel oil is less damageing to the global enviroment than all the mining they are doing for rare earth minerals.

Facts don't matter when there is an agenda goal to meet!

they said in the video that they can could do it marginally cheeper then the price of gas is sold today …

Some people seem to think that standing still is the answer to everything. They think that climate change is a giant lie made up by ?? to rob us of our money and take us out of our comfort zone. Because the government is indeed far from perfect, they think the government is part of the conspiracy of that giant lie. Seems like this forum is a sounding off place for these people.

I don't claim to have answers to all of the questions, but I firmly believe change is indeed needed. Our current method of using energy for transportation is so archaic. I agree with Jeff that electric cars are indeed over-sold on their advantages, and the disadvantages are understated. But we live in a constantly evolving situation where change will happen, with many mistakes along with many unexpected advances as we move on, resulting in a better (but certainly not perfect) world.

Our current method of using energy for transportation is archaic...lol.

I for one love "recharging" my gas vehicle in 10 minutes flat.

I think it's archaic to think recharging in less than 5 hours is a huge win.

I have always thought using batteries for transportation is silly. There is no way to recharge except through a fixed station that is slow at best. The problem is the transportation problem was solved a long time ago. People now have so much free time they are creating problems to solve over again, only the new solutions are giant steps backwards.

Then, don't even get me started on the "green" lithium and cobalt mining for this new green revolution.
