Good afternoon! 92˚F, maybe a quick thunderstorm later.

Yesterday did not go as planed. Mom's nurse called, problems, and sent her to hospital. Good news though, only dehydrated and we took her home in the evening after a fill-up via IV.

There was a sunflower growing in the potatoes and I left it. It is now 8' tall and starting to bud. Weeded the garden and the newly planted watermelons are getting their second set of leaves, still hoping for a late August melon.

Wife is repainting the baseboards and some of the Frog tape took off the wall paint. The touchup can of wall paint I had was too light so I went to Sherwin Williams and they darkened it a shade. still waiting for the sample to dry to see if the touchup will be invisible.

My right Costco Hearing Aid stopped working so got an apt. for tomorrow. I couldn't hear very well at the hospital yesterday and the start-up tones are not chiming.

Making some whole wheat buns with a new recipe that uses dates instead of sugar and prunes instead of oil. Never have used prunes instead of oil, usually just don't use oil.

Wife's owners manual: now that would be an interesting read.

Hazy again today. And surprisingly, for about 5 minutes, could barely smell smoke.

Trapped another raccoon last night. That is 5 in the past week. Have 1 doing some damage every night….hope to get it soon.

Everyone stay safe out there

Kilroy- I almost lost bladder control. I worked a decade (direct care/clinical) in a secure female psych admission unit and have lived with my female bio-unit for +45 and I still don't have a clue; but I do know this...................

Rich- I am not unhappy that rabies, mange, and distemper have decimated the raccoon population around here. Cute they are not.....

I have the wifey's manual on a thumb drive..... but, I lost it +39 years ago.....somewhere on the honeymoon. Been trying to remember some of the critical info ever since....

Well, I am a lot lighter since this morning.....
Over $500 at Costco. It's the highest total yet.... and I didn't even get any cool.....well, did splurge and got a box of IC cones.

By the time we got everything put away, boxes broken down, and a cold drink, didn't do anything in the shop. Watered the plants in the greenhouse and the potted stuff outside.

Watching a special 30yr anniversary of "Great rail adventures" on PBS. Showcases some old iron and neat "tourist" rail journeys.

Everyone have a great evening!

Good (Friday) morning. The overnight Low was 8C and it's presently 13C, clear with some wind. There was 7.7mm in the gauge this 0900 and 13mm yesterday.

I highly recommend to all that if you need to transfer data from an 'old' mobile phone to a 'new' one that you engage a professional to do it! Mind you, if something will go wrong (attempting to 'do it yourself') it will happen to me.

When I last posted on Wednesday, I was on my way into town for mail & groceries... the short story is that my debit/credit card was declined whilst checking-out at the grocery store. They stored my purchases until I could sort it out = home and my on-line banking showed that my accounts were intact. A call to my bank revealed that my 'card' had been cancelled due to a malicious credit card 'purchase' (whilst attempting to transfer phone data myself between old/new mobile phone). The malicious charge was subsequently cancelled.

The bank would immediately issue a new card and they electronically issued that card to my mobile phone banking 'app' so that I could use it from my phone's 'wallet'. Great o_O, what's a mobile phone wallet and how do I use it???

Sorted... but, geees, I HATE being dragged (kicking & screaming) into the 21st Century! And I did, then, go back into town to collect & pay (credit) for my groceries.

The trip to Launceston went well (1000). I first stopped at a branch of my bank to get A$100 cash to see me through until the new card arrives, then it was over to the tech-dudes to have the data transfer done. Once that was done, we made sure that the new phone was set-up properly for my use (I could 'drive' the device), my ring-tone (theme to 'The Naked Gun') worked and that the electronic credit card was in, and working, in the new 'wallet'. Whew.

Home by 1800. A 'couple' of glasses a Pinot Noir and a good night's sleep.

That's about it, take care all.

Got washer and dryer delivered, long drive today. Ran out of heavy smoke the further down I81 we went. Didn’t notice it at our lot.
Some good pics on the camera

Talked with neighbor lady and got more good info on the neighborhood. Really nice lady. She rents her place, but her brother owns the house next door. Found out fiber optic is being installed.

   / Good morning!!!! #171,529
nice dinner out with friends, packed five people in here for awhile, glad they have all gone home and peace and quiet returns.
except it didn't....loud stereo nearby, kids yelling, more loud stereo, 10pm comes and goes, loud stereo thumping away. 10:20pm loud stereo stops. How nice.

good bit of rain today, was needed, had to bring awning almost all the way in, then when rain stopped later I slowly retracted it as a ton of water came splashing down. Last time it did that got me good, right on the head, like a big bucket of water. This time I stepped inside the rv and shut the door almost all the way. Good thing, just before the end, big wave of water came down. Usually a good idea on awnings to keep one end slightly lower than the other, minimizes this pooling.

I wonder if there are 55 and over rv places
regardless I intend to sleep well.

Yes.
"While every state has 55 and older RV campgrounds, two states take the cake in that category. They are Arizona and Florida."

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 5:00AM. Sunshine and a few afternoon clouds. High 83F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

I'm right there with you when it comes to backing up trailers, Drew. The little backup camera perched over the back license plate on the Ford helps, but when I can't see the little trailer in the mirrors or even looking over my shoulder out the window, I end up getting out of the truck and walking around back to see what's going where. The camera on the back of the Toyota is much better, and there's no trailer, but I'm not to the point yet where I trust those red and yellow lines in the display to actually keep the car from hitting something while backing up. Maybe some day, but not now. But that sentiment helps explain why the vans I'm looking at offer so many collision avoidance sensors, front, sides, and rear, and get thousands of dollars for the packages that contain them. It's a balance between staying out of trouble, and making systems so complex they are unreliable and expensive to fix and maintain.

As Don points out, Buppies, if I'm lucky someday I'll be too infirm to pilot that Chevelle and an autonomous Tesla will hopefully get me safely to the drugstore and back. Heck of a reward for growing old, but what are you gonna do?

Spent most of yesterday chasing ProMaster vans, by color, to see if any were close enough to buy off a lot. I found a gray one in Reno, NV, that had all the must haves, and some of the nice to haves, and none of the don't wants, only to call and find out it won't be out of the dealer's body shop until July. Uh, no thanks. So I spoke to the fleet manager at the dealer I test drove at two weeks ago, and forwarded him my build sheet. He said he'll put together a quote Wednesday when he's back from his weekend off. In the mean time, today I'll look for a blue one on a lot; I also finished tan and red yesterday. I figure most of the contractor vans will be strippers, and white paint is a no-charge option, so I'm avoiding white ones for now. I'm also avoiding dealerships that don't link the Monroney stickers on their web pages, as that's too much like buying a pig in a poke. I've found several dealerships still charging $5K and $10K "market adjustments" on vans sitting on their lots, another no-no in my book.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start.
El Nino must have made it to KY . It is hot and very dry after months rain and rain. Crops are not looking good and pastures are suffering. Hopefully our July 4th rains come early.

@RedNeckGeek the good news is some day if needed you may want an autonomous Tesla muscle car. :)

The closest thing to a muscle car I have owned was an 1960 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 as I finished highschool in 1969 $375. The retired lady was selling it because her family wanted her to stop driving so before they could take her keys she sold it. Instead of being 17 like back then now at 72 I feel more for the seller of my first car.

The night before Elon Musk effectively cut the Tesla Model Y dual motor long range price $20,500.00 my son spent 3 hours trying to to convince me to get a Tesla. The massive price deflation lead me to order 2am 14 Jan 2023 and we picked it up 11am 20 Jan 2023 in Nashville TN.. It is truly the first muscle I have own @ 362 HP yet will not spin a wheel on wet ice.

For several years all Teslas have shipped with FSD hardware and software. Autopilot is free and beta FSD cost me $200 per month.

Teslas are the only FSD All Roads option in the USA.

Last night it slowed down to miss a raccoon crossing the road. I don't leave home without FSD engaged. Shortly I will be using it on my McDonald's mid night coffee run.

Now that Ford and GM have signed on using Tesla Supercharger software and hardware protocol one can buy those brands still have access to quality nationwide EV charging network.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 44° with some clouds this morning. Heading to 77° with scattered clouds. Grocery shopping went well. Even bought gas without waiting in line. Moved about 6 yards of mulch to various spots in neighbors gardens. Good seat time on tractor. No plans for today yet.
Cleanup buildup of Maple tree helicopters (seed buds) from garden pond prefilter. Just dumped in grass. Squirrel came by and worked at eating the wet ones for over an hour.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

Quite Brisk at 41.7F, going to upper 70s, sunny all day allegedly.

Shopping with mom went well, spent rest of the day on the deck.

on Wednesday I found an ad on CL for a large quabtity of aluminum 3” irrigation pipe with 2” runners and sprinkler heads to a very good price, the we had been up almost a month. Contacted the guy yesterday… he sold it on Monday 🤬
So I need to go to th big plumbing supply house and order up 600’ of black poly 2” to get some water to our little Victory Garden plot, because a watering can will get tedious really quickly. But that is what we will be starting with for getting plants in the ground this weekend.

Harry has an early appointment at the vet to get chipped. After that, we will head up to the lot and I have to get the post/pole charring process underway and maybe even get some into the ground. I will also pull out the solar zapper and let that charge up in the sun for a while.

probably Sunday I will do another beehive inspection, it will be two full months today that we got them, I have not opened up the hives for almost 5 weeks, they are doing well based upon the activity that I see in and out and about. But the weather will be getting hot and I need to install screened bottom boards for ventilation of the hives, and also to see if they have filled out the second deep boxes I added back in May and if it is time to add medium boxes on top.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed Friday!

edit: I just had my first “downtime” with StarLink in over a month, and it lasted about 30 seconds. it has been working so rock solid steady I forgot that such things could happen, compared to how often I was down with the DSL!

good morning all from Millsboro DE, 57 degrees in clouds and showers later this afternoon. When I will be long gone.

no sense in leaving early, trying to get anywhere near Philadelphia during rush hour is nuts and I have to go up the Blue Route again, what I got parked on for half an hour on the way here. This must be what California driving is like...frankly from Richmond North it all shows why we need better trains.

little coffee maker on rv finished perking. Last night during dinner the smoke started to clear a little, still looks pretty grey this morning.

going to take my time this morning packing up, fair amount to do, I usually don't set the furniture out and all these folks tromping through here, need to vacuum.

when the rains were coming down yesterday and the temps dropped pretty fast, it was fun to put a fake fireplace (4k youtube) on tv.
Felt warmer, really.

LED ceiling light flickering, driving me nuts. Finally put tape on it last night. could not get plastic cover off, must be a trick to it, don't want to break the cover, but it's likely a swap out anyway, nothing to fix on an LED right?

very interesting compact fifth wheel next to me, made in Canada, very high quality. Pulled by 5.0 F150, says he gets 15mpg towing.
hard to believe actually.

51 and smoky fog...smog. Going to 76.

Great clarity on that trail cam, BEF. Cool that you have critters out in the day...probably means no loose dogs in the neighborhood.

Don, hope your mom is better now that you've rehydrated her. My wife took her mom to the doc yesterday, and dehydration was the diagnosis.

Decided to do a dump run and sneak in a hike before the Code Purple smoke plume was supposed to arrive in late morning yesterday. I met up with a guy and dog from Flagstaff in the parking lot, so talked a long time...so was late returning and could just see the smoke get several grades thicker with several miles left to hike. What's strange is that through all of this, haven't smelled the smoke...just see it...and it sure irritates the eyes.
