After bush hogging the field, brought the tractor up to top it off with fuel. Shut it down, put fuel in, and now nothing. I mean nothing. No lights, no cylinder warm up, absolutely nothing. Battery is 2 months old showing 12.5V resting.
Advice please?

prob a bad battery connection pos or neg. Loosen clean and reattach wires around battery including frame ground.

Start checking connections. You have a volt meter if you were able to tell us 12.5v resting.....so use it and start following the path. See if you are getting power to the key, etc.

Also check fuses.

IF you suspect a connection somewhere....leave the key switch ON.....start wiggling wires.....if a loose/bad connection......once you move a problem area you should hear some relays click on as the dash comes to life

I checked the fuses, all are good. Will do the wiggle today. Thanks.

I have a TC30 with a sometimes finicky PTO switch. Turn the key to on and then push the PTO levers to the off position and see if it comes to life.

Look for one of these. It will be on the main starter post along with the positive battery cable. Everything switch or dash related passes through it. If/when it fails the result is what you described.

I just had a battery holding 12.5v resting but couldn't hardly light the dash etc. The volt meter on the battery would dip to 6v with just the key on and all connections/fuses pulled. What the heck would pull a good battery down that far with hardly a load? I installed the car battery in it and it fired right off. Something wrong with that first battery even though it was 12.5v resting.

That,s why to properly check a battery you need to do a load test on it. Resting voltage doesn,t mean much.

I know on my old Case IH, which was also a New Holland build, there was a fuse in a location that was obscure and hard to find.

The only way I found it was looking at a schematic online. It's a main fuse right around the starter, kills everything. It was also kind of hard to get to.

I highly doubt it is the battery it would probably give you something,, a click a flicker of light, if just a weak battery.

As already mentioned, I would try the connections, find a schematic for the all the fuses, and take the battery to a Napa and have them check it

Since you were using the PTO that sounds like a strong possibility that a switch is not making connection.

Don't underestimate the effect of resistance in a circuit. I have a small fishing boat with a deep cycle battery powering the running lights. What possibly could stop a big, bad deep cycle battery from lighting the lamps? Oddly enough, I was getting good voltage at the terminals, but there was not enough current to light the bulbs. I hosed all the connections with CRC 2-26 and bang the lights came on! I then went again and cleaned them, lubed with silicone grease for protection and have not had a problem since.

That,s why to properly check a battery you need to do a load test on it. Resting voltage doesn,t mean much.

True, 12.6V (or 12.5V) doesn’t tell you the amount of available charge, but it tells that all cells are 2.1V and available, that is, it’s not resting at 10.5 volts with a shorted cell.
