A while back my hand throttle was stuck after a period of sitting. I lubed it all up and it works fine. But it won't stay where I put it, always returns to full low.

Obviously I over lubed a friction washer of sorts? Which one is it?

Here is a screenshot from the manual for reference.

15 looks good.
Thank you! So I just replace it with something?

Don't worry, I did the same thing with a fishing reel...ugh

Thank you again. I didn't realize it was a spring
its not, there is a friction disc, but if its anything like mine, there is huge spring as well, that does the tension. its number 18 in the diagram, and you just tighten 19 till it holds.

Replace it with "something"? No not exactly. The title of the thing is friction washer, not lubed washer. Tightening the spring is not a solution, merely a band aid. Back off the nut holding the spring and all that together. Back it off far enough you can lift the handle, see, feel, and move the washer. Hose it all down with brake cleaner (both sides of the washer, top and bottom, not just the outer edges). Blow it all DRY and then tighten the spring and everything back up. Tighten the nut until the throttle stays in place and feels right to you.

Thank you! I'll look into it tomorrow.

What is the friction disk made of? Will brake cleaner hurt it?

Got it! You answered the question I just asked ;)

My parts catalog lists it as "Lining" hence my confusion

Does it hurt brake linings?
