Wow, getting started right away! Love it. Best of luck to you in this substantial endeavour. Nice house plan, nice parcel of land. :)

I just had a chance to watch your video of the dozer. It's really nice seeing the dirt curl over in the blade!!! One of my favorite things to see.

Thanks. I only have a few hours experience on a dozer. I've been having to learn by the seat of my pants. If I go about half as fast as the slowest speed I can almost keep up with the adjustments so I don't loose the cut or gouge too terribly deep...

I did make it harder on myself by pushing all the dirt off the pad. I should have kept it within the pad. It made it really hard to find the ground again. Both to clean the dirt off the grass and to find a reference for how deep I needed to cut when i went back the other way to clean up what fell off the other side of the blade.

I understand. My dozer wears me out. I can't see both ends of the blade at once, and in just a second, it will do something on the other side that I didn't see and mess everything up. I really need three arms to run it, and after a few hours, I'm totally worn out!!!

If you can, put a man door on the outside of the garage somewhere. So if you have any work space in the garage you can go in and out without opening the car door or going around through the house.

It's probably too late to change but I didn't appreciate how useful a mud room is until I bought my current house that has one. Its not large but its convenient to go in and out that way especially when its raining or snowing. I can take my boots off and leave them in there rather than tracking mud in the house or taking them off outside.

^^ Very important suggestions from Eric. We also use our mud room, which has a door between it and the house as well, as a sort of "air lock" in the deep cold winter months and also the hottest summer days. And also to keep the dog from running outside to greet visitors, they can instead step into the mud room, close the outside entry door behind them, for a controlled entry.

I would have liked to have a mud room but it was not in the cards for these plans. We are too far along to change them now and even if we could I'm not up for another round of plan changes. Every thing that gets changed on the plans effects something else, it gets exhausting.

Definitely needs man door for garage, even if to the front porch, but ideally by the garage doors.

I decided not to put a walk through door in my garage because it took would take up more room then I wanted to give up. My 3 car garage is 30ft deep and 42ft wide with ten foot wide doors. In my opinion, I'm good with opening the garage doors with the keypad if I need to get in there from the outside.

I'm the same. I never even thought about a man door to enter the garage, now that it's been suggested I see how it would be handy. I have a use for the space it would take up so I'm going to push forward without it, may regret that later but I'm sure it won't be the only thing.
