I do have various arsenals that I could and will carry but a 22 behind the ear and they don’t move. The tractor mounted ack ack is a good idea. For sure I’d put out some firepower. I’ve plenty of targets on our place. They estimate 6mm hogs in the US and half are in Texas and I’ve got my share for sure. Thanks for the feedback.

I’d love to carry one of my lever guns on my tractor ( just for the nostalgic factor) but with the constant dust, humidity etc, probably not the best idea.
My thoughts exactly plus the constant vibration cannot be good for scopes if you use one. I carry a beat up but VERY functional revolver, mostly for any mister no shoulders I may encounter. If something happens to it, no terrible loss. Like a few weeks ago when the strap on the holster came loose and it fell into a thick sticky mud hole.

I carry a scoped 22 on my atv most of the year. I put 3-4 THOUSAND miles on that thing per year and beat it through the Ozarks on and off "trail". Scope does fine, dirt and water are the main issues. Needs cleaning every few weeks. Still pops squirrel heads at 50 yards.
I also carry my scoped lever guns that way during deer season and only once a problem when mount screws came loose.
On the tractor I have an old HiPoint 40 that stays there, can't hurt that piece...

I carry a Ruger Super Blackhawk single action revolver with a 10 1/2 inch barrel in .44 mag on my tractor. I've found that the hogs will pretty much ignore me when I'm on the tractor, or they are already running away when I see them. When they ignore me, I shoot them. Best encounter was when about 30 of them walked into the field I was mowing and I drove right between the group. A third went by on one side, two thirds on the other side. It all happened so unexpectedly that I forgot to do anything, so I turned around and drove back up to them and shot the biggest one.

My hog problem was pretty bad until Covid hit. One of the things that was allowed during the lockdown was hunting. A client of mine asked to shoot hogs at night with a thermal since he couldn't do anything else. That first year, he shot 140 hogs. The second year he shot about 40 hogs. Since then, he's only been able to shoot about a dozen or so. They have almost disappeared!!!!!

He has two feeders with game cameras on them. He sits in my deer blind and falls asleep. When a hog shows up, the game camera sends him a message that wakes him up. He shoots the hog, or hogs, then either goes back to sleep to wait for more hogs, or calls it a night. His very best night, he got 14. He had a few nights where he got 12. Right now, two in a night is a big deal, if he gets any. I'm lucky that he is totally obsessed with shooting them. He puts in all the time, money and effort to make it happen, and I get the benefit of not having a hog problem anymore.

My long term goal is to fence them out. When I bought the land, I thought that hog hunting would be fun. After shooting them, and my wife shooting them, we sort of lost interest in it, and decided that if somebody else wanted to shoot them, that would be great. This has turned into a big win for us!!!!

I still carry the pistol, but mostly for snakes. I used to have a bad snake problem too, but with a lot of mowing, and about 30 cats, my snake problem has been severely reduced. Worse year we killed over 40 snakes. So far this year, I've only shot two.

A good balance of protection of the rifle and easy access I would think is the goal. Has anyone used the rops with a window type gun rack? Or maybe a ATV style?

That's what I was thinking, I have zipper soft cases and could attach a rack to the ROPS with big enough hooks to hold the case. Keep the rifle clean, but available.

Check out these guys, saw them at the Louisville Tractor Show a year or two back.
They may have something that will suit your need.

Good luck.

I would put it up tight against the roof of the canopy somehow? In easy reach but out of sight from a distance, and out of the weather too.

I bought a Ruger Charger just in time for Biden to turn it into an illegal SBR, so now I have a .22 pistol with a red dot and no way to shoulder it. I was going to keep it on the utility cart all the time in the gun rack I bought. Haven't thought about putting it on the tractor.

I guess I could go get a stainless 10/22. There are a couple of lawsuits intended to get rid of Biden's rule, though. Maybe I'll be able to use the Charger after all.

There are supposed to be hogs here, but I have never had one on my property. I'm the only person in the US who actually wants them.
