Good evening all. 76ºF for the start, clear, light breeze. Light wind with moderate gusts, clear sky, and high temp was 102ºF. HI 108ºF. Putter to start day, bike ride, rear tire still holding air. Took trimmer for walk, lunch, the got two wheelbarrow loads moved to main wood rack, better path on sidewalk now. Starting to look like I may need more wood for winter. Did get nap in, and wife and I made pasta primavera for dinner. Did not catch the part where you put veggies in with last 3 or 4 minute of cooking pasta :(. Simmered it more, pasta overcooked but veggies not raw .

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).
61.0F going to low 90s, rain later this afternoon.

Trip to vet went well, our driveway was not blocked by the law enforcement operation at the druggies this time, but everyone got bailed out so any hope of a drama-free Independence Day weekend are dashed…

Went up to woodlot, watered plants, cleaned out creek sump, got hold of the neighbor and let him move his downed tree with the excavator. I think he enjoyed being back in the seat again and was highly appreciative.

today’s itinerary is a trip to TS to get Senior Dog washed and pick up a half-dozen electric fence handles so I can add in two more gates around our Victory Garden, then energy conservation and minor fettling projects.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe productive blessed Friday!

I don't drink, but know those who say you can't go wrong with Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve, Jim Beam, or at a lower price, Virginia Gentleman. 😁
Pappy Van Winkle FTW! (Think of it as Redneck Louis XIII)

66 and smoggy. Going to 88.

Buppies, hope you can get a nap.

Stayed indoors most of the day. Did the best coffee roaster cleaning I've ever done...then roasted 3 batches to make up for some sent to friends, and for family coming tomorrow.

Mostly, I have plenty of spare glasses. Eyes have not changed much in over 30 years. This is the second pair of glasses that I have broken since I started wearing at 8 years old. First pair were repaired with some silver soldering. This pair broke inside the spring area of bow. No repair unless I want back to place where I got them. They are way over priced. With poor service.

Good morning! 76˚F, We were supposed to stay out of triple digits yesterday but at only 100˚F with a good breeze it did feel cooler.

Three cucumbers are growing about an inch a day in th garden and the sunflower is getting thicker, I will need a saw to cut it down next month with the base at 3". Even with irrigation at 3X per day it was getting dry so I gave everything an extra drink.
Cantelopes seem to be doing the best in the heat and I saw my first baby cantelope.

Good Morning
62 with a high of 80 under a smoke filtered sun.

Yesterday was busy and varied. Started off helping a friend that’s building an outdoors wood fired pizza oven. He has the stone base built and poured the concrete top to the base that the oven will be built on. 2” refractory board goes on the concrete, then a firebrick floor. The walls get built like an igloo out of fire brick.

Next stop was the airport to finish the LED project, after that was done, took the little plane for a quick hop before putting it away. Nice to have functional brakes again.

Then lunch with some friends followed by a service call for my son’s air conditioning. It’s a geothermal heat pump and the evaporator was iced up. Either low on refrigerant of air flow. Filters and blower were fine, so I left it on fan with the system off to thaw out while I went home to get refrigerant and tools. The fun started when I got back. Pressures confirmed that it was low on charge, but it would not accept any refrigerant, or only extremely slowly. After fooling around with it too long, I decided that I needed to change the schrader valve on the low side port. I’ve got an air lock type tool that lets me change it under pressure, but had to go home and get it. Luckily, that was the issue and it quickly accepted the charge, letting me get it to the required values.

But this put me behind schedule for getting the smoker started and the pork prepared to go in it. I got the pork prepped, and started the fire, ate some dinner, collected the trash and recycling and got it to the street, watch the son do a little RC flying until the smoker was ready.
It was about 9pm when the meat went in. Here is what it looks like now.

Probably be ready to come out and be shredded a bit after noon, then I’ll leave it the Cambro until dinner time.

Looks like today will be mowing day, been less than a week, it’s amazing what rain does. Hopefully not much else will pop up today, by the time I get the smoker cleaned up and the mowing finished, I’ll be ready to play some music and relax.

It had been over a month since I mowed along creek and the hill. Some places it was tall, but most of the hill was just the planten stems.
Picked first 3 cucumbers in garden
IMG_0011.JPG
vines not very big, surprised to see them
Tomatoes growing fast need to clip them.
Will finish mowing today.

I got a message that Dad broke bush hog again. Don’t know what that means yet.
Usually it’s the gear box comes loose.

Have you got room in your creek to add a couple of more "sumps" settling ponds to let the water clarify before it gets to your pump pit. With good clean gravel or course sand between them.
