Kubota M5660SUHD caught on fire (60hrs)!

How is he liable? If the damage was done by fire, not usually warranty. If customer didn't want or pay for insurance, the risk is born by the customer for passing on insurance.

The dealer may hold sales/finance guy accountable for not selling the insurance as it makes them $$. That doesn't help the customer though.
Something makes no sense about this situation. Kubota will not finance a tractor without proof of insurance, just like a bank or credit union won’t finance an uninsured vehicle.

Kubota financial would not have completed this deal without the original poster having insurance whether through them or through an outside insurance company. Their underwriting wouldn’t allow a dealer to screw that up.
Either the OP has ktac and doesn’t realize it or had outside insurance at the time of purchase and has since dropped it is what is unknown from this post.

You are right; my property manager did provide a quote to insure the tractor at the time of purchase (was like 300/year) but then I guess I made the decision not to insure. As I said I have lots of machinery in use and never had to deal with a claim in over 30 years.

Will go to dealer shortly to see if they know what caused fire and I said i am taking delivery of 6060HD tractor Monday (I have not see financing paperwork on it yet)

I agree with others that something dont sound right.

I also agree to check with your insurance agent. MAybe its covered on your homeowners policy as long as it happened on your property

I second- checking with your homeowners policy. Agent told me the contents of outbuildings and equipment on the property was covered up to some percentage of the house itself.

You can check, but around me if it has its own VIN it requires its own policy and is not covered under homeowners.

9 month old tractor and I run it for maybe 10 minutes and notice that it has less power than usual
Anyhow I see smoke out in the hood area on top of engine. I open the hood and flames spread out all the way to fuse box and the dashboard (plastic)
I manage to douse off the fire and all the wiring is now bare and burnt to a crisp. The quote to repair is at least 30k which is close to what I paid (actually I still have 40 payments due)!

Question: What could have caused it (it was plastic/ wiring burning and super hot!)...not fuel related.
The dealer told me I need to turn to insurance co; i.e it is not covered by warranty!

Obviously I don't want to spend as much as a new tractor on this; besides the wiring and the dashboard cover everything looks like new! I am getting a 6060HD delivered in a few days as I can't wait to get a resolution to this....

You agreed to purchase insurance and cover the burned tractor. Paragraph 6 of the contract you signed with Kubota financial. The dealer provided a repair quote that they believe you will be filing a claim with the insurance company that you represented to them that you have coverage for the tractor. You've put yourself in a box in this situation.

You have since purchased another tractor from them if I recall in this thread that you said you also financed. If that is the case again you've agreed to purchase insurance on the collateral they are loaning you money to buy.

I'd suggest you dig out your contract and read it over. Attached is the section discussing insurance. You are currently in default on the burned tractor. They will find out sooner or later.

I was just at the dealer and yes I am to insure the new one before delivery on Monday; kubota's insurance is twice what my insurance is quoting.

As a follow up...see attached pictures.
the fire started at the top of engine (last picture) and propagated towards the fuse box and dashboard.

I also got the quote to fix and its about 4500 in labor and 25k in parts but when I read it it loaded with parts that are not even near where the fire : alternator, starter, bonnet and so so on which is probably half the parts cost
